Belleville Lions Club Invitational

The Beloit Trojans traveled to Belleville on Tuesday, April 22 to participate in the Belleville Lions Club Invitational. This meet has two divisions, an upper division of 2A and 3A schools, which the Trojans competed in, and a lower division of 1A schools. Medals were awarded to all six places and championship and runner-up plaques were awarded to the first and second place teams in each division.
The Trojan boys brought home a total of 37 medals (20 gold, 7 silver, 3 bronze, 3--4th ,2 --5th, 2--6th) and finished 1st scoring a total of 202 points. Smith Center was second with 102 points and Washington County was third with 70 points.
Gold medal winners for Beloit were Bryce Black in the shot put at 49'6" and the discus at 129'10", Alex Conn in the 800m run in 2:00.14 and the 3200m run in a new school record time of 9:42.50, Hunter Budke in the 110m high hurdles in 17.03, Jace Adams in the 300m hurdles in 42.15, Brady Budke in the triple jump at 39'7.25", Dustin Reiter in the javelin at 167'7", the 4X100m relay team of Jace Adams, Tanner Niemczyk, Colson Reames, and Payton Vetter in 45.14, the 4X400m relay team of RJ Jackson, Jace Adams, Colson Reames, and Payton Vetter in 3:38.29, and the 4X800m relay team of Brendon Mason, Carter Wessling, Bailey Vetter, and Colson Reames in 8:53.09.
Silver medal winners were Jace Adams in the 110m high hurdles in 17.13, Tanner Niemczyk in the 100m dash in 11.94, RJ Jackson in the 400m dash in 52.54 and the shot put at 47'6", Payton Vetter in the high jump at 6'0" and the long jump at 18' 4.5", and Daniel Herndon in the javelin at 162'0".
Bronze medal winners were Tanner Niemczyk in the 400m dash in 53.66, Colson Reames in the long jump at 18'0", and Brandan Boeckman in the discus at 128'10".
The fourth place medal winners were Isaiah Horton in the pole vault 11'6", Logan Mong in the high jump at 5'4", and Damon Tatro in the discus at 127'11".
The fifth place medal winners were Gage DeGarmo in the 400m dash in 55.28 and Logan Mong in the triple jump at 36'5".
The sixth place medal winners were Jarrett Arasmith in the triple jump at 36'0", and Damon Tatro in the shot put at 40' 10.25".
The Lady Trojans brought home a total of 36 medals (6 gold, 3 silver, 8 bronze, 9--4th, 7--5th, 3--6th) and won the meet with 125 points. Marysville was second with 114 points and Minneapolis was third with 88 points.
Gold medal winners for Beloit were Kaley Broeckelman in the 100m hurdles in 16.31, Alison Palen in the triple jump at 32' 7.75", and the 4X100m relay team of Karissa Winkel, Remi Behrends, Alexis Budke, and Kaley Broeckelman in 51.57.
Silver medal winners were Kaley Broeckelman in the 300m hurdles in 49.97 and the high jump at 5'0", and Alana in the long jump at 15' 3.25".
Bronze medal winners were Michaela Pingel in the 1600m run in 6:26.81, MacKenzie VanPelt in the pole vault at 8'11", Remi Behrends in the high jump at 5'0", Alexis Budke in the triple jump at 31' 3.5", and the 4X800m relay team of Erin Kelley, Madison Wolfe, Savanna Cox, and Michaela Pingel in 12:12.26.
The fourth place medal winners were Remi Behrends in the 100m dash in 13.65 and the 200m dash in 27.76, Carly Budke in the 400m dash in 1:09.34, Taryn Post in the pole vault at 8'5", Karissa Winkel in the long jump at 14' 8.5", and the 4X400m relay team of Carly Budke, Taryn Post, Alana Budke and Alexis Budke in 4:46.71.
The fifth place medal winners were Alana Budke in the 100m dash in 13.67, Karissa Winkel in the 200m dash in 28.6, Savanna Cox in the 1600m run in 6:39.39 and the 3200m run in 13:49.95, Erin Kelley in the 400m dash in 1:11.22, Heidi Mealiff in the long jump at 14' 1.5", Shandrey Krone in the shot put at 30' 8.5".
The sixth place medal winners were Erica Fairchild in the 3200m run in 17:32.26 and the 1600m run in 7:18.27, Britt Widrig in the 300m hurdles in 52.48.
The next action for the Trojan track teams will be the Phillipsburg meet held on Friday, April 25. The field events will begin at 3:00pm and running event prelims will begin at 4:30pm, with finals starting around 5:30pm.
