Mary Peterson, Age 94

Mary A. Peterson, age 94, died Friday, January 16, 2015 at Meadowlark Hills, Manhattan. She was born on May 8, 1920 in Clay County, KS to Samuel T. & Lydia L. (Andrews) Rundle.

She graduated from Clifton High School. She married LaVerne Peterson on Aug. 29, 1943 in Clifton, he preceded her on May 28, 2010. They lived on a farm near Palmer until moving to Clifton, where Mary worked for Turner Furniture Store & Funeral Home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Clay Center and the American Legion Post #227 Auxiliary, Clifton. Mary enjoyed crocheting, quilting, collecting Precious Moment figurines and a host of craft projects, but her passion was her family and their time together.

She is survived by her sons, Ronald Peterson (Martha), Bellevue, NE & Steven Peterson (Tina), McPherson; brother in law, Marlin Peterson (Brenda), Clay Center; sister in law, Maxine Peterson, Clay Center; 5 grandchildren & their spouses & 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne; her parents, Samuel & Lydia; her sister, Marian & brothers, Lauren, Frederick & Lloyd Rundle.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Wed., Jan. 21, 2015 at United Methodist Church, Clay Center with Herb Mugler officiating. The family will greet friends from 9:30-10:30 am, Wed at the church. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center. Visitation will be from 1-7 pm, Tues., Jan. 20, 2015 at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde.
