Cecilia "Sis" Ludwig, Age 95

In the early morning hours of Friday, February 20, 2015, Sis slipped quietly away from this life to dance again with her beloved Joe. Born on November 26, 1919 to Melvin and Cecilia (Knaup) Carrico, she was called Sis by her dad and that would be her lifelong name for all who knew her. At the age of four, she lost most of her hearing due to two consecutive illnesses. She quickly learned to read lips, a skill she maintained throughout her life, and it wasn't until she graduated from St. John's High School in Beloit in 1938 that she got her first hearing aid. On November 8, 1941, Sis married Joseph W. Ludwig Jr. They lived in Wichita until 1945, when they returned to Beloit. In 1957 they moved to Topeka, Kansas, where they lived for the rest of their lives. Sis was a homemaker, a wonderful cook, and a cookie baker extraordinaire. In Topeka, she was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary parish as well as many bridge clubs. Sis was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents, Melvin and Cecilia Carrico; brother, James; sisters, Albertine Konzem and Virginia Litchenberger; and son-in-law, Mike Morrow. She is survived by her daughter, Rose Ann Morrow; granddaughter, Beth Morrow; grandson, Jeff Morrow (Patricia); and great grandchildren, Adrienne and William Morrow, all of Topeka. Also surviving are sisters, Maxine Wicks, Bennet, NE, and Carol Moritz and Janet (Dan) Sparks, Salina; brother Joe Carrico (Vivian), Chesterfield, MO; brother-in-law William Litchenberger, Wichita; and sisters-in-law, Jean Ludwig and Rachel Moritz of Beloit; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, who were all dear to her, and she to them.

A funeral mass will be at 2 PM Monday, February 23 at the St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit. A parish rosary service will be held at 7 PM Sunday at the McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. John's Memorial Trust Fund. McDonald-Roberts Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
