Farmway Awards Scholarships To Area Students

BELOIT, KS - As part of the Farmway commitment to its communities, Farmway has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships throughout the Farmway trade territory in north central Kansas since the program's inception in 1972. It is with great honor that Farmway Co-op Inc. announces this year's scholarship recipients.

Receiving an award for the Producer-Member scholarship of $1,000 each, this year's scholarship recipients are as follows:

Patrick Eilert graduated from St. John's High School and will pursue a degree in music education from Wichita State University. His parents are Allen and Tammy Eilert, of Beloit.

Austin Gasper graduated from Lakeside High School and will pursue a degree in agribusiness and agronomy at Fort Hays State University. His parents are Joe and Judy Gasper, of Tipton.

Tyler Marr graduated from Rock Hills High School and will pursue a degree in agronomy from Cloud Community College and Kansas State University. His parents are Thomas and Sherry Marr, of Formoso.

Michael Schmitt graduated from Tipton Catholic High School and will pursue a degree in agronomy and agribusiness from Hutchinson Community College and Kansas State University. His parents are Doug and Lori Schmitt, of Tipton.

Receiving an award for the Ag Career scholarship of $1,000 is Jennifer Boley from Concordia High School. Jennifer will pursue a degree in agribusiness from Cloud Community College and Kansas State University. Her parents are Mark and Connie Boley, of Concordia.

Receiving an award for the Employee-student scholarship of $250 each, this year's scholarship recipients are as follows:
Timothy Graham, son of Shannon (and Mari) Graham from our Leonardville location.
Riley Gates, son of Brian (and Julie) Gates from our administrative office.
Kiley Lott, daughter of John (and Kristen) Lott from our Minneapolis location.
Adam Bell, son of Amy (and Chris) Bell from our administrative office.

Recipients were selected from a pool of applicants based on: cumulative grade point average, leadership, scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, academic and career goals, and essay. All members of Farmway Co-op and their graduating high school seniors planning for postsecondary education were eligible to apply for the Producer-Member awards. All Kansas students pursuing an agricultural career were eligible for the Ag Career award. Students of Farmway employees were eligible to apply for the Employee scholarship.

The family of Ronald File of Beloit formed the Ronald File Memorial Scholarship in the fall of 2013 to commemorate the life of Ronald File and to continue his legacy of excellence and generosity posthumously. He was a strong supporter of the agriculture industry and saw the importance of assisting youth pursuing an agricultural career. Graduating high school seniors from Beloit High School pursuing an agricultural degree were eligible to apply.

With the assistance of Farmway hosting the scholarship, the family of Ronald File announce Nicholas VanPelt as the 2015 Ronald File Memorial Scholarship recipient. Nicholas was awarded a $500 scholarship.

Farmway has a commitment to building a strong future for our members and communities, both through our team of experts and our community involvement. Our scholarship program helps us invest in our future by supporting education and programs connected to agriculture and rural America.

The 2016 Farmway Scholarship Program will be released December 2015 and distributed to schools within the Farmway trade territory and available on the Farmway website.
