Good baseball game in Lincoln last night in the feature game.  In the winner’s bracket contest Davis Dubbert pitched for Beloit and Jake Tiernan for Osborne.  Both hurlers put on very a very good display of their pitching talents.  Dubbert came away with the victory and Beloit captured their 20^th win of the season and none bigger as they advance to now be the only unbeaten team in the double elimination tournament.  Dubbert remained undefeated on the mound this season with a 7-0 record and a microscopic ERA of .82.  The lone run for Osborne on the night was unearned while Dubbert gave up 2 hits, struck out 4 and walked 2. 

 

The game was scoreless through 4 innings, and the pitching duel was on.  Beloit had managed just 1 hit while Osborne had only 2 through those first 4 innings. 

 

In the bottom of the 5^th inning Beloit got on the board. Noah Marozas doubled the opposite way, Michael Peters effectively moved him to second on a good sacrifice bunt, and Jeremy Eilert drove him home with a single.

 

Osborne rallied back in the top of the 6^th to tie the game.  In the bottom of the 6^th Beloit responded to that Osborne rally with one of their own.  Luke Hesting led off with a single.  Cade Cox grounded out to short but Hesting advanced around second to an unoccupied third base.  Kelden Hyman then hit a slow roller up the bag at first base that wasn’t able to be cleanly fielded and Hesting scored.

 

Dubbert finished with strong pitching in the 7^th .  He got a ground out to 2^nd, and two of his four strike outs on the night in the closing frame.

 

Jeremy Eilert was 1-2 at the plate, Noah Marozas, Cade Cox, and Luke Hesting were all 1-3.

 

Beloit advances to play in the championship game Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m.

Beloit will play the winner of the preceding Wednesday night 6:00 p.m. match-up between Osborne and Concordia.
