Lawrence John Grelinger was born June 1st, 1929 on the Grelinger farm, five miles north of Beloit, to Anthony H. and Sophia (Schauf) Grelinger. The farm had been purchased by his grandfather, John M. Grelinger of Bickendorf, Germany in 1893. He was called home August 7, 2015. Larry was the oldest of seven children; younger siblings included John, Paul, Norbert, Robert, Margaret and Don.

Larry attended St. John's Catholic Grade and High Schools graduating in 1947 as class Salutatorian. Following graduation he was employed by Fitzgerald Hardware. In April of 1948 he gained employment with Reece Construction under Superintendent C. H. Churchill as a lineman building REA electric lines throughout the western half of Kansas and Southwest Nebraska.

In September of 1950, he entered Wichita-St. Joseph School of Nursing graduating in 1953 as a Registered Nurse. After graduation he was employed as a night supervisor of St. Mary's Hospital in Winfield, Kansas.

On February 2, 1954 Larry entered the U.S. Army completing his Basic Training at Fort Riley and followed with Advanced Training at Fort Sam Houston. On April 20th, 1954 he married nursing classmate, Mary Margaret Winters of Danville, Kansas at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children; Paula Marie, Bart Alan and Mary Patricia.

After their marriage they were transferred to Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington D.C., arriving there as one of the first five male nurses to serve in the U.S. Military.

On January 1st, 1957 Larry entered the School of Anesthesia at Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, South Dakota. There he graduated as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. After graduation Larry and Marge moved to Wichita, Kansas where he worked for the anesthesia group of Dr.'s Owen and Knapp and later Dr.'s Tinterow and Martin. During this employment he had the opportunity to work at Wesley, St. Francis and St. Joseph Hospitals.

Larry and Marge returned to Beloit on August 1st, 1968 and for the next 25 years, he was the Anesthetist for Mitchell County Hospital. Additionally, he provided anesthesia relief services for Concordia, Belleville, Smith Center, Phillipsburg, Osborne and Hill City. He retired in 1996 after providing medical services for 40 years.

During his off time from anesthesia he enjoyed farming, fishing, boating and camping. He also took enjoyment in volunteer work with fellow parishioners doing maintenance at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church parish facility. In his later years, he and his wife Marge enjoyed regular vacations with their children. His most memorable were his trips to Germany reconnecting with distant relatives. He also enjoyed time with his grandchildren and their many school activities.

Larry was a 3rd Degree Knight of Council 921 Knights of Columbus. He was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, member of the choir, past member of the St. John's School Board, and was one of the founding members of the St. John's Memorial Trust Fund.

Preceding in death were his grandparents John M. and Margaret (Musgen) Grelinger and Peter and Walburga Schauf, his parents, Mary Margaret (May 2015) wife of 61 years, brother John and son-in-law Brad Fuller. He is survived by Paula Kisslinger and husband Kirby of Glen Elder, Bart Grelinger, MD and wife Melissa and Mary Jones, both of Wichita, Kansas. Survived by siblings; Paul (Mary Ann), Olathe, Norbert, Beloit, Robert (Susan), Derby, Margaret (Don) Keeler, Oak Island, North Carolina, and Donald, Beloit. Also survived by grandchildren Dallas (Leah) Fuller, Erin (Jason) Stewart, Dustin Fuller all of Beloit, Audrey (Travis) Mayer, Manhattan, Katie Rosell, MD (Scott), Denver, Adam Grelinger, Emmitsburg, Maryland, Sarah, Kailee and Hannah Jones, Wichita, Kansas and eight great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

Visitation Monday August 10 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. with Family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John's Catholic Church Tuesday August 11 at 10:30 a.m. with interment at St. John's Cemetery Beloit.
