Bernice Dorman, Age 89

Bernice Rose Dorman of Hebron, NE the daughter of Frank G. and Emma B. (Weiss) Poppe was born September 6, 1926 on a farm near Deshler, NE. She departed this life Wednesday January 27, 2016 at her residence in Hebron after a battle with cancer.

She grew up and attended Country School District 83 near the Kiowa, NE. After school she started working at a young age at The Hebron Creamery candling and sorting eggs.

She was baptized September 19, 1926 by Pastor William K. Colcher at St. Peter Church in Deshler, NE and confirmed March 17, 1940 by Pastor F. C. Rhode at Bethlehem Lutheran at Kiowa, NE.

She married Milford (Pickles) Dorman April 29, 1951 in Deshler, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of four children.

Bernice was a hard worker, spending 11 years cooking at the Hebron Sale Barn, and 28 years at the Hebron High School. She was a familiar face to many students. Her and Pickles spent many hours watching kids sports.

Bernice loved spending time with her family. She was always cooking and baking, and excited for their visit. She used the gifts God gave her to bring joy to many people. Many neighbors shared in the delicious food. She also enjoyed playing cards, gardening and volunteering for Head Start as monitor on the school bus and The Red Cross.

She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE always helping in the kitchen.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Milford (Pickles) February 15, 2008, brothers; Leonard Poppe, Harold Poppe and wife Lila, LaVern Poppe, Virgil Poppe and wife Elvera, Frances Poppe, sister Lula Bell and husband Max, brothers-in-law; Donald (Pinky) Hartley, and daughter-in-law Janet Dorman.

She is survived by sons; Jerry Dorman of Lincoln, NE, James Dorman and wife Doris of Kearney, NE, and Jay Dorman and wife Kathy of Hebron, NE, one daughter Janice Harvey and husband John of Red Cloud, NE, seven grandchildren; Brad Dittmer and wife Mary of Marion, IA, Jessa Popp and husband Mike of Jacksonville, FL, Jamie Thompson and husband Jason of Ord, NE, John Harvey and wife Caitlin of Martell, NE, Nicole Dorman of Kearney, NE, Stacey Anderson and husband Lance of Kearney, and Kammy Kendall and special friend Brian James both of Kearney, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorial service will be Saturday January 30, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE at 10:30 AM. Officiant will be Pastor Keith Brozek, organist Brenda Striggow, soloist Jamie Lattrell singing "The Lords Prayer", congregational hymns "Amazing Grace", and "In The Graden", recording "Angels Among Us" by Alabama. Book signing Friday 1PM to 7PM at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron, NE. Memorials in care of the family. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hebron, NE. Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron, NE is in charge of arrangements.
