Ronnie Lee Dean was born on August 10, 1950 in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Lloyd and Erma Hicks Dean. He died Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 65 years, 8 months, & 5 days, after a courageous battle with cancer. He grew up in the area, and was raised in the Glen Elder United Methodist Church. He later went on to graduate from Ft. Hays State University, and returned to the area to continue work on the farm, where he enjoyed farming wheat and milo, as well as working with the cattle. He also took great pride in taking care of his pastures, whether it was fixing fence or cleaning the pasture of noxious weeds and trees. In May 1972, he was united in marriage with Anita Smith. One daughter, Kristen, was born to this union, which later dissolved. In May, 1991, he married Elaine Lichtenhan, and they were privileged to spend nearly 25 years of marriage together. Ron had a great sense of humor, and loved telling funny stories whenever he was visiting with others. He also loved going out to eat, especially on crab night at the Buffalo Roam Restaurant. He was very active, as he spent 20+ years playing town-team basketball, served in the National Guards, as well as more than 30 years on the Farmway Credit Union Board of Directors. He also had an obsession with the Weather Channel, and had accumulated a large collection of rain gauges. He greatly enjoyed annually attending the State Fair, traveling, camping, fishing, and playing cards. And he worked at the Osborne Sale Barn for many years. Ron loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ron is survived by his wife Elaine; daughter Kristen Dieter and husband Matt of Zionsville, Indiana, son Brandon Dibben and wife Dianna of Junction City, daughter Jennifer Blume and husband Brian of Wamego; one brother, Jerry and wife Judy of Glen Elder; one sister, Cindy Clausen and husband Jack of Glen Elder; eight grandchildren, Grayson and Oliver Dieter, Mikayla, Kourtney, Brittney, and Deyton Dibben, and Brenn and Jaylie Blume; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Friday, April 22 at the Glen Elder United Methodist Church followed by burial in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Thursday, April 21, with family present from 6-7:30 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Solomon Valley Hospice, Mitchell County Hospital, or the Glen Elder Christmas Display Fund.
