The Trojan track teams traveled to Lyons to compete in the regional meet on Friday, May 20. Regional track meets are made up of 16 teams.

The top 4 place finishers in each event qualify to compete at the state meet held at Cessna Stadium in Wichita on May 27 and May 28. The

weather was ideal for a track meet, with the temperature in the 70’s and a light wind.

 

The lady Trojans had an outstanding day, qualifying 15 for the state meet and bringing home 20 medals (8 - gold, 5 - silver, 5 - bronze, and 2 - 4th) and finished the regional champion with 117 points. Sterling was second with 66 points and Russell was third with 54.5 points.

 

First place finishers for Beloit were Sydney Johnson in the discus at 137’9” and the shot put at 39’11.25, Kourtni Hubert in the javelin at

142’10”, Ocean Paul in the pole vault at 10’0”, and the 4X100m relay team of Karissa Winkel, Remi Behrends, Alana Budke, and Alexis

Budke in a new school record time of 49.67.

 

Second place finishers were Kourtni Hubert in the shot put at 38’9.25”, and the 4X400m relay team of Trinity Wagner, Karissa Winkel, Paige

Hafliger, and Janica Pearce in 4:11.78.

 

Third place finishers were Remi Behrends in the high jump at 5’2”, the triple jump at 35’11.25”, and the 100m dash in 12.65, MacKenzie

VanPelt in the pole vault at 9’6”, and Karissa Winkel in the long jump at 16’8.75”.

 

Fourth place finishers were Blaise Spangler in the pole vault at 9’6” and Karissa Winkel in the 300m hurdles in 48.61.

 

The Trojan boys competed very well, qualifying 11 for the state meet and bringing home 19 medals (4 -gold, 9 -silver, 3-bronze, 3-4th) and

were regional runner-up with 74.5 points. Norton won the meet with 86 points and Hoisington was third with 66 points.

 

First place finishers for Beloit were the 4X400m relay team of Zach Meier, Anthony Nunez, Brendon Mason, and Colson Reames in 3:29.46

 

Second place finishers were Colin Budke in the long jump at 20’8”, the 4X100m relay team of Zach Meier, Colin Budke, Ryan Jackson, and

Colson Reames in 43.9, and the 4X800m relay team of Anthony Nunez, Brendon Mason, Ryan Jackson, and Colson Reames in a new school

record time of 8:13.94.

 

Third place finishers were Colson Reames in the 400m dash in 51.8, Hunter Budke in the 110m high hurdles in 15.49, and Jace Adams in the

300m hurdles in 41.3.

 

Fourth place finishers were Zach Meier in the 400m dash in 52.4, Blayne Harris in the pole vault at 12’0, and Colin Budke in the triple jump at

41’2.75.

 

Coach Isbell said, “I’m proud of all of the kids. They competed very well and stepped up when they needed to. They have represented our

school well and it should be an exciting couple of days in Wichita.”

 

The Trojans will travel to Cessna Stadium in Wichita on Friday and Saturday, May 27 and 28 to compete in the state meet.
