COACHES

Head Coach: Mick Holt, Sedan, will be the Head Coach for the Division I East Squad. He graduated in 1983 from Dexter High School and from Emporia State University in 1992. After spending time teaching and coaching in Arizona, he decided to return to Kansas, where he spent 10 years in Cedar Vale before moving to Sedan in 2006. Currently, Mick coaches HS football, Asst. HS girls basketball, and Asst. HS baseball. In his 6 years as the head football coach at Sedan, Mick has compiled a record of 26-19. Mick teaches Chemistry, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Biology and Earth/Space sciences at Sedan. He has been married to wife Lisa for 24 years, and has 5 children:  Casey 23, Tyler 19, Haley 15, and twin girls Madison and Melody who are 11.

Assistant Coaches: Jeff Slater, Burlingame, was chosen as Assistsant Coach for Division I East Squad. He graduated from Lansing High School in 2006 and University of Kansas in 2011 after playing two years of college football at Dodge City Community College. Slater is entering his sixth year at Burlingame as the K-6 Physical Education teacher and fourth year as head football coach after spending his first two years as the JH Assistant football coach. Slater has an overall record of 28-5 in three years and has lead his team to Sub-State Runner Up finishes in 2015 and 2016. Jeff and his wife Whitney have a daughter, Kinsley, and are expecting a baby boy this August. Chris HaagWest Elk, was chosen as Division I East Squad Assistant Coach. He graduated from Olpe High School in 1993. He obtained his Bachelor of Science from Emporia State University in 1998 and completed his Masters of Science from Pittsburg State University in 2012. Chris teaches K-12 physical education and weightlifting for West Elk USD 282. He also serves as an assistant principal for the Patriots. He has been the football coach for West Elk the past 16 seasons, The Patriots have made the playoffs in three of the last four seasons with a record of 34-7.  They were crowned Bi-District Champions in consecutive seasons for the first time in school history.  Chris has been married to his wife Megan for 13 years and they have two children, Macy 11, and Trent 10.
