8 Man 2017 Division II - East

Head Coach: Lewis Whitson, Hartford, was chosen as Head Coach for Division I East. He graduated from Fredonia High School in 2003 and Emporia State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Education: History/Government and Physical Education, with a Minor in Coaching.  He is currently pursuing his Masters Degree as a James Madison Fellow. Lewis began coaching at Chase Co. High School in 2009-2011, and also was assistant football and basketball, head junior high track coach both years. He began teaching at Hartford High School in 2011 and also served as assistant football coach and head track coach. He became the head football coach at Hartford in 2013: with a current overall record of 22-17. Lewis has been married for six years and the couple have a son, Lewis "Whit" Whitson Jr.,2. and had a son Kamron in May.

Assistant Coaches: Don Melby, Pike Valley, was chosen as assistant coach for Division II East. He graduated from Scandia High School in 1974 and from Fort Hays State University in 1978 with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Education. He started teaching at Scandia and Courtland High Schools in 1978-79. In 1979 he went to work full time at Pike Valley High School and served as assistant football coach for two years. In 1981 he became the Head football coach at Pike Valley and has been there ever since. He teaches Woodworking, Drafting, Drivers Education and CPR at the school and also serves as assistant basketball coach at Pike Valley. The Panthers went 10-2 this year and lost to the two undefeated state champions in 8-man football. Don has been married to his wife Judy for 33 years and will be 34 years this summer. They have two grown daughters. Rachelle works for the City of Topeka and is married to Phillip Matthews and have blessed the Melbys with a grandson, Spencer. Nicole teaches 1 st grade in Woodland Park, Colorado. Sean BlosserCaldwell, chosen as Assistant Coach for Division II East. Coach Blosser has been head coach for the Caldwell Bluejays for six seasons. In his time with the Bluejays they have compiled a record of 34-25, with five post season playoff appearances. This is Coach Blosser's second time coaching in the 8-man all star game. Coach Blosser resides in Caldwell with his wife, Lesly, four sons Andrew, Mak, John Henry, and Deekin with their fifth child arriving in October.
