COACHES

Eric Detweiler will be the Head Coach for Division II East Squad. He graduated from Axtell High School in 1998 and from Kansas State University in 2002 with a degree in Animal Science and Industry. Eric received his Rule 10 certification so he could coach. He also farms. Eric is in his third year of coaching at Axtell High School with a record of 25-8. Axtell lost this year in Sub-State game. Eric has been married to wife Michelle for 13 years. They have three children, Isaac age 11, Wyatt age 7, and Katelyn age 6.

Lewis Whitson will be an Assistant Coach for Division II East Squad. He graduated from Fredonia High School in 2003 and Emporia State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Education: History/Government and Physical Education, with a Minor in Coaching. He is currently pursuing his Masters Degree as a James Madison Fellow. Lewis began coaching at Chase Co. High School in 2009-2011, and also was assistant football and basketball, head junior high track coach both years. He began teaching at Hartford High School in 2011 and also served as assistant football coach and head track coach. He became the head football coach at Hartford in 2013: with a current overall record of 13-15. Lewis has been married for five years and the couple had their first child, a boy Lewis "Whit" Whitson Jr, this May.

John Wellman will also be an Assistant Coach for Division II East Squad. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1993 and then went on to receive his degree in elementary education from Kansas State University in 1998. After graduation, he moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex where he taught and coached in the Grapevine-Colleyville School District for 11 years. John got married to his wife Carrie in 2002. They decided they wanted to raise their children in small town Kansas and moved back to the Sterling area in 2009. John and Carrie have an 11 year old daughter Ella, a nine year old daughter Emily, and a six year old son Nolan. John has been teaching fifth grade in Chase, Kansas for the last seven years. He has been the head football coach at Chase for the past five seasons with a record of 34-14, with an 18-2 record over the past two seasons.

ALL STARS

No. 0 - Kyler Bruey is a 2016 graduate of Caldwell High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: District Honorable Mention Linebacker, 2015; All District, 2014; and All District 2013. Caldwell reached the State Playoffs in 2012, 2014 and 2015. Kyler was a member of the basketball team that reached the State Tournament in 2013 and 2014. He enjoys hunting and working on cars. Activities and honors in school include FCCLA, StuCo, FCA and Honor Student. Kyler's parents are Dawn and Trent Stevenson and Jarod Bruey.

No. 2 - Brendon Clark is a 2016 graduate of Chase High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: Passing Stats:  19 completions, 34 attempts, 56% completion percentage, 467 yards, 14 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 24.6 yards per completion. Rushing Stats:  117 carries, 1,391 yards, 33 touchdowns, 11.9 yards per carry; Defense: 105 total tackles, 8 tackles for a loss, 5 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, 1 safety. The last two seasons Clark led Chase to an 18-2 record. Of his 47 touchdowns this season, 43 came in the first half of games.  Clark is a four year starter that helped win three district titles for Chase High School. He was unanimously voted the district offensive and defensive MVP. Chase was District Champions in 2012, 2014 and 2015 with undefeated seasons in 2014 and 2015. Brendon was a 4 year starter in basketball, the leading scorer his senior year. Hobbies and interests include basketball and baseball. Brendon has been on the A Honor Roll in high school and was named Football Homecoming King in 2015. Brendon's parents are Scott and Paula Clark.

No. 3 - Jase Suther is a 2016 graduate of Frankfort High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: K-MAN Student of the Week, Topeka Capital Journal Player of the Week. Football statistics include setting the rushing yard record for a single season and career at Frankfort High School. Jase was a member of the State Track 4x100 relay in 2015. Activities and honors outside of school include baseball and church youth group. He enjoys hunting, fishing, mechanic work and spending time with family and friends. Activities and honors in school include FFA 4 years, F-Club 4 years, Homecoming King Candidate and Honor Student. Jase's parents are Angie and Shane Suther.

No. 4 - Dylan Bair is a 2016 graduate of Pretty Prairie High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: selected All-League 2014 and 2015 and All State 2015. Pretty Prairie reached the state playoffs in 2015. Dylan lettered 4 years in football and basketball. The basketball team won sub-state in 2015 and went to the state as the #1 seed for 2016 Sub-State Class 1. Activities and honors outside school include FFA and 4-H, showing cattle on a state and national level, active in Rodeo Association and enjoys team roping! He also plays an active role on his family farm/ranch. Dylan loves to hunt, fish and show cattle and is active in FFA and 4-H livestock judging in school. Dylan's parents are Dwight and Lori Bair.

No. 5 - Ryan Kraushaar is a 2016 graduate of Frankfort High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: 45 receptions, 816 receiving yards, 18.1 yards per catch, 19 receiving TD's, 68 yards longest reception, 63 solo tackles, 61 assists, 124 total tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 22 passes deflected, 24 kickoff returns, 453 return yards, 18.9 return average, 75 yds longest return, 10 punt returns, 114 return yards, 11.4 return average. In 2014 Ryan was selected 2nd Team All-League SE, 2nd Team All Dstrict, defensive back, All District Honorable Mention SE, All Flint Hills Honorable Mention SE/DB; 2015: All State Honorable Mention SE, 1st Team All League SE, 1st Team All District SE, 2nd Team All District Defensive Back, 1st Team All Flint Hills SE/Defensive Back and 1st Team All League Defensive Back. Hobbies and interests include target shooting, hanging out with friends, riding around and playing video games with friends. Activities and honors in school include: FFA 4 years, Wildcat Singers 2 years, Meals on Wheels 3 years, football, basketball and track 4 years; Honor Roll. Ryan's parents are Garry and Linda Kraushaar.

No. 6 - Chase Carey is a 2016 graduate of Blue Valley Randolph High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: All District and All League selection in 2015. Chase was a three time state track qualifier, and K-Man Player of the Week in basketball. He enjoys four wheelers and hunting. Chase's parents are Jackie and Tonja Carey.

No. 8 - Jacob Norris is a 2016 graduate of Attica High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: All State Honorable Mention Safety, 1st Team All League Runningback, SS; Topeka Capital Journal All State Quarterback 2013. Attica was 2015 District Champs 9-0, Bi-District Champs, Regional Champs and Sub-State Champs, State Runner-Up with a 12-1 record. Hobbies and interests include hunting, fishing, and hanging out with friends. Jacob's parents are Ray Norris and Addie Swogger.

No. 10 - Tanner Kubick is a 2016 graduate of Sylvan-Lucas Unified High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: 2015: 60 unassisted tackles, 67 assisted; 75 carries for 634 yards, 15 TD's; 22 catches for 296 yards; 3 fumble recoveries, 1 interception. He was selected All District 2nd Team Defensive Line. Career stats include 242 tackles, 6 fumble recoveries, 1 interception, 6 sacks, 76 carries for 642 yards, 23 receptions for 304 yards, 10 touchdowns. Activities and honors outside school include 4-H, Pheasants Forever member, member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, BL Teens. Tanner enjoys hunting, bow fishing, spending time with family at the lake, surfing, paint balling and fishing. Activities and honors in school include Kansas Distinguished Scholastic Achievement 4 years, Sweetheart King, Homecoming King, Honor Roll 4 years, FCA, FFA, choir, band, Kays Club, football and basketball. Tanner's parents are Jerret and Tara Kubick.

No. 12 - Colton Buessing is a 2016 graduate of Axtell High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: Honorable Mention All-State Quarterback 2014, 1st Team All-District Quarterback 2014 & 2015, 2nd Team All-League Quarterback 2014 & 2015, District 1 Offensive MVP 2014 & 2015, 1st Team All-State Linebacker 2015; 1st Team All-District Linebacker 2015, 1st Team All League Linebacker 2015. Individual statistics include defense - 218 total tackles, 2 interceptions; offense - 3887 passing yards, 1414 rushing yards, 50 passing touchdowns, 35 rushing touchdowns. Axtell was District Champs in 2014 and 2015, Bi-District Champs in 2014 and 2015, Regional Champs in 2014 and 2015 and Sub-State Runner-Up in 2014 and 2015. Honors and accomplishments in other sports include 3 years qualifying for the state track meet, basketball state champions in 2013 and state basketball qualifiers in 2015. Colton plays baseball and enjoys working on the farm, watching game film and hanging out with friends. School activities and honors include Honor Roll, KAYS, FFA, school play, Student Council, Scholar's Bowl, FCCLA. Colton's parents are Roy and Patricia Buessing.

No. 15 - Hunter Frazell is a 2016 graduate of Crest High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: selected All League Honorable Mention Defensive Back/Wide Receiver 2015. Crest was the Bi-District Champions in 2012 and District 3 Champions in 2015. Honors and accomplishments in other sports include basketball - All League Honorable Mention 2014, All League 1st Team 2015 and All State Honorable Mention 2015. Hobbies and interests include fishing, being outdoors and playing basketball. Activities and honors in school include football, basketball, FFA, Student Council, National Honor Society, FCA and Honor Roll. Hunter's parents are Craig and Sharon Frazell.

No. 21 - Jacob Field is a 2016 graduate of Pike Valley High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: All State Kicker/Punter. Pike Valley was District Runner up in 2014 and 2015; Bi-District Champions in 2014 and 2015 and Regional Runner Up in 2014 and 2015. Other sports honors include: qualifying for State Track sophomore year, Sub-State runner-up team senior year, 2nd in State Baseball junior year. Activities an honors outside school include 4-H State Foods, elected multiple officers in 4-H, Buy-manship Grand Champion. Hobbies and interests include hunting, fishing, golf, bowling, helping coach baseball, EMT, Woods. Jacob was a member of the Eco-meet champion team, Student Council President, Junior Class President, FFA Sentinel, 4th Place in Kansas Best Robotics, National Honor Society, golf, track, basketball, FBLA State Team. Jacob's parents are Jeffrey and Kori Field.

No. 22 - Jordyn Steinike is a 2016 graduate of Wilson High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: 2015 - selected 1st Team Running-back, 1st Team Linebacker, District Return Specialist, Honorable Mention All State. Jordyn was a 3 year letter winner in basketball and 4 year letter winner in track. He enjoys weight lifting, pickup basketball and football games. Activities and honors in school include Pep Club, National Renaissance Attendee in Scottsdale, Arizona, WJSH Musical/Stage Producer, League Powerlifting, State Powerlifting KSHSAA. Jordyn's parents are Don and Deb Steinike.

No. 23 - Dawson Carlgren is a 2016 graduate of Pike Valley High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: Team Captain, All District Second Team Running-back 2014, All District Second Team Center 2015, All State Honorable Mention Linebacker 2015, K-Preps All District Honorable Mention Offense 2015. His all purpose yards totaled 1,330, tackles 203 and touchdowns 20. Pike Valley was District Runner up in 2014 and 2015; Bi-District Champions in 2014 and 2015 and Regional Runner Up in 2014 and 2015. Dawson has lettered inn basketball and track, was team captain in basketball and received the Purple Heart Award in basketball. Activities and honors outside school include Our Savior's Lutheran Church Call Committee, Our Savior's Lutheran Church Annual Pancake Supper, storm clean up, Community Clean Up Day, farming, and owning a custom baling business. Hobbies and interests include hunting, fishing, farming and hanging out with friends. Activities and honors in school include Honor Student, KS Honor Scholar, National Honor Society, Student Council, band and vocal, all school play, football, basketball and track. In FFA he received the Proficiency Award in Entrepreneurship, Grain Production, Ag Mechanics and Design, Diversified Crop Production and Forage Production. Dawson's parents are Troy and Allison Carlgren.

No. 24 - Brandon Brallier is a 2016 graduate of Crest High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: 2015: 119 tackles, 608 rushing yards; Career; 259 tackles, 1,126 rushing yards. Football honors include: All league Honorable Mention Linebacker 2014 & 2015; District Honorable Mention Linebacker 2013 & 2014; District Honorable Mention Running-Back 2014; All League Honorable Mention Running-Back 2014; District 1st Team Linebacker, 2015 and All State Honorable Mention Linebacker 2015. Crest was District Champs, losing in the Bi-District in 2015. Brandon enjoys playing basketball, X-box and lifting weights. Activities and honors in school include football, basketball, Student Council, FBLA and FCA. Brandon's parents are Jeanette Irwin and Kenneth Brallier.

No. 30 - Alec McDaniel is a 2016 graduate of Attica High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: 2015: All State Quarterback, Hutch News Defensive Player of the Year, District 4 All District Quarterback & Linebacker, All League Quarterback and Linebacker; 2014: All State Quarterback, Hutch News Co-Offensive Player of the Year, District 4 Quarterback and Linebacker, HOPL all League Quarterback and Linebacker; 2013: HOPL All League Linebacker, District 4 Linebacker. In 2014 and 2015 Attica had a 12-1 season record and was State Runner-Up. Alec was selected to the 54 Classic All Tournament team in basketball. He has been a member of the Prepare to Launch Squad and enjoys farming with grandpa and all sports. Activities and honors in school include Valedictorian, Class President, Student Council, Scholars Bowl and National Honor Society. Alec's parents are Tye and Megan McDaniel.

No. 33 - Jake Loyd is a 2016 graduate of Pretty Prairie High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: selected All League 2014 and 2015, Honorable Mention All State 2014, All State 2015. He was the Football Team Captain in 2014 and 2015. Total tackles in 2012-4, 2013-35, 2014-65 and 2015-88. Career totals include: 6 fumble recoveries, 2014-27 kickoffs for 993 yards, 36.8 average; 2015-56 kickoffs for 2221 yards, 39.7 average. Jake lettered in track 2 years and enjoys music, hunting and riding horses. he was a member of FFA and band for 4 years in high school. His parents are Dustin & Lisa Loyd.

No. 43 - Brice Koch is a 2016 graduate of Axtell High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: 41 receptions for 651 yards, 9 receiving touchdowns, 1165 all purpose yards, 47 solo tackles, 80 assisted tackles, 4 interceptions, 3 fumble recoveries. He was selected Twin Valley 1st Team Offensive End, 2nd Team Defensive Back; Topeka Capital-Journal Class 1A Div. 2 All State Honorable Mention End, Wichita Eagle Class 1A Division 2 All state Honorable Mention Offense End. Axtell was District Champs, Regional Champs, Bi-District Champs and Sub-State Runner-Up in 2015. Brice was a State Qualifier placing 4th in the 4x800m relay, 6th in the 800m run and 9th in the 4x400m relay. Activities and honors outside school include American Legion Boys State and baseball 2nd place. Brice enjoys listening to music, looking at Chevy trucks and hanging out with friends. School activities and honors include Kansas Honor Scholar, National Honor Society, Honor Roll, TVL All League Academic Team, football, basketball, track, Kays, Class Vice President and school play. Brice's parents are Dave and Robin Koch.

No. 50 - Ross Kuehny is a 2016 graduate of Caldwell High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: selected Honorable Mention All State Linebacker in 2015 and All District Offensive Line in 2015. Caldwell reached the playoffs in 2012, 2014 and 2015. Ross enjoys farming, fishing, hunting and attending concerts. Activities and honors in school include NHS, FCA, Student Council, Valedictorian, KU Honor Scholar, basketball and track. Ross's parents are Brad and Jill Kuehny.

No. 51 - Nathan Porting, Axtell (replacing Jase Suther, #3, due to an accident).

No. 64 - Troy Francis is a 2016 graduate of Attica High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: selected All District Center, All Area Center and All State Center. Attica's 2014 season record: 12-1 record, Bi-District & District Champs, Regional Champs, Sub-State Champs and State Runner-Up; 2015: 12-1 record, District & Bi-District Champs, Regional Champs, Sub-State Champs, State Runner-Up. Troy's hobbies and interests include helping farm and working cattle, along with hunting, fishing and trapping. His parents are Bryan and Mary Francis.

No. 69 - Riley Munoz is a 2016 graduate of Chase High School. Football statistics and accomplishments include: 2015: All State Offensive Line, 1st team; All District Offensive Line, 1st team. Chase had undefeated regular seasons and was District Champions in 2014 and 2015. Riley enjoys drag racing and welding. Riley's parents are Marlo Munoz and Kenny Gruver.
