As of June 13th, 2016 Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems has closed the northeast end access of the MCHHS parking lot. The decision was made due to several safety issues occurring throughout history but more recently with the diverting traffic from KS Hwy 14.

MCHHS's east and west parking lots have always been deemed not through streetways. Due to the increase of traffic using these areas as through street access MCHHS made the safety decision to close down the northeast end permanently.

"The traffic and traffic speeds being witnessed in both of our parking areas pose a safety risk to our patients and the general public," said Jeremy Armstrong, MCHHS CEO. "This decision was made in an effort to prevent any accidents or pedestrian safety issues."

MCHHS will permanently keep the parking lot northeast end closed. Additionally MCHHS will be heavily monitoring the parking stall usage on the northeast corner of the facility. Parking in this specific area of the organization is designated for cardiac and pulmonary rehab patient use only. MCHHS asks that the general public respect these designated parking spaces for patient use only.

Additional monitoring will occur on the usage of the west emergency driveway. This area of the MCHHS facility is deemed a not through street and is to be used for emergency vehicles, MCHHS patients and MCHHS staff only. All parking spaces and the west drive will be monitored daily and reported to the City of Beloit police for failure to respect designated areas.
