Norman Sicard, Age 89

Norman P. Sicard, age 89, died Thurs., Oct. 6, 2016 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, KS. Norman was born on April 21, 1927 in Clifton, KS to Edward "Shorty" Sicard & Bernadette (Roy) Sicard. He graduated from St. Peter's Parochial School in Aurora, KS in 1941. He married Nada C. Demars on May 17, 1947 in Aurora, KS. She preceded him on May 13, 1999. They resided in Clyde, Clifton & Jewell, KS until moving to Concordia. Norman served in the US Navy as a Sea Bee during WWII. After the war, he worked as an auto mechanic and farmer until they moved to Concordia. During his retirement, he worked as a night watchman at Cloud County Community College for several years. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Moose Lodge #1428, American Legion Post #76 & VFW #588.

He is survived by his sons, Michael Sicard (Terrie), Riverside, CA, Rex Sicard (Diane) & Bruce Sicard (Kim), both of Concordia; daughters, Christine Huber (Mike), Sachse, TX, Rebecca Huber (Jeff) & Brenda Kearn (Bob), both of Concordia; sister, Madeline Wright, Concordia; five sisters in law, Janice Sicard, Margaret Sicard, Althea Sicard, Mary Rose Wiltzius & Madeline Demars; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; special friend, Betty Beaumont & several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Adeline "Dort" Willoughby & brothers Hector "Junior", Donald "Snowball" & Elmer Sicard.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm, Mon., Oct. 10, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Fr. David Metz officiating. Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588 will follow the services at St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia. Visitation will be held from 12-8 pm with a Vigil service at 5 pm on Sun., Oct. 9, 2016 and the family will greet friends after the vigil service, all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorials be made to the family and will be designated at a later date and left in care of the funeral home.
