Vivian A. Jensen, 101 of Fowler, Ohio and formerly of Courtland, Kans. died Tuesday evening, July 25, 2017, at Concord Care of Hartford in Fowler. She was born November 24, 1915 in Scandia, Kans. the daughter of the late Gust and Etta Louise Hall Nystrom. She was a lifetime resident of Kansas before moving to Fowler to live with her daughter in 2000. She was a 1935 graduate of Scandia High School and worked her whole career in food service at nursing homes and as a cook at several Kansas restaurants, retiring from Marymount College in Salina after many years of service as a cook. She was a member of the Scandia Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and was currently a member of Cortland Christian Church since moving to Ohio. She had been a member of the HDU Club in Scandia She is survived by one son, Richard A. (Janice) Jensen of Hutchinson, Kans.; one daughter, Virginia J. Carr with whom she had made her home in Fowler; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. Her husband of 55 years, Arthur E. Jensen, whom she married September 24, 1936 preceded her in death September 12, 1991. Her son-inlaw, James Carr II; one grandson, James Carr III; two sisters, Mildred Johnson and Violet Nelson and two brothers Lawrence and John Nystrom also preceded her in death.
