Martha Hughes, Age 91

Martha Margaret Hughes, 91, of Downs, KS, passed away on Sunday October 15, 2017 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, KS. Martha was born on July 13, 1926 to Guy & Ethel Ecil (Moore) of Glen Elder, KS. Martha graduated from high school in 1944. She married Eddie L. Hughes on April 10, 1945 and to this union, 2 daughters were born. She was a homemaker that worked outside of the home. Martha worked at the Osborne County Treasurer Office, Muck Grocery Store of Downs and also was a switchboard operator for the local telephone co. throughout her life. The past 4 & 1/2 years, Martha has resided at the Resident Care Center at Mitchell County Hospital. Prior to that, Martha lived in her own home.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents & her husband, Eddie in 2009. She is survived by her daughters: Donna (Jerry) Reid of Kansas City, KS & Shirley (Don) Geist of Herrington, KS; 1 brother: Carrol (Joyce) Casy of Glen Elder, KS; 4 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren.
