The Beloit Trojans traveled to Belleville on Tuesday, April 17 to participate in the Belleville Lions Club Invitational. This meet has two divisions, an upper division of 2A, 3A, and 4A schools, which the Trojans competed in, and a lower division of 1A schools.

 

The Trojan boys brought home a total of 20 medals (2 gold, 9 silver, 9 bronze) and won the meet with 116 points. Nemaha Central was second with 107 points and Smith Center was third with 105.25 points.

 

Gold medal winners for Beloit were Colin Chandler in the shot put at 49’6”, and Blaine Burks in the 800m run in 2:10.19.

 

Silver medal winners were Tristan Brummer in the 800m run in 2:11.94, Vincent Palen in the 110m high hurdles in 16.73 and the high jump at 5’10”, Blayne Harris in the triple jump at 40’10”, Blaine Burks in the discus at 129’5”, and the 4X800m relay team of Tristan Brummer, Jacob Porter, Trase McQueen and Blaine Burks in 9:08.72.

 

Bronze medal winners were Tristan Brummer in the 1600m run in 5:12.4, Jacob Porter in the 3200m run in 11:36.99, Zach Meier in the 110m high hurdles in 16.82, Camden Harris in the pole vault at 12’0”, Vincent Palen in the 300m hurdles in 44.24, and the 4X400m relay team of Zach Meier, Paxton Harris, Hudson Gray, and Blaine Burks in 3:40.3.

 

The Lady Trojans brought home a total of 11 medals (3 gold, 5 silver, 3 bronze) and finished 4th with 79 points. Nemaha Central won the meet with 111 points. Concordia was second with 97 points and Marysville was third with 84 points.

 

Gold medal winners for Beloit were Sydney Johnson in the shot put at 43’0” and the discus at 146’8”, and Hannah Burks in the 3200m run in 12:22.66.

 

Silver medal winners were Sydney Barrett in the javelin at 125’3” and the 4X800m relay team of Reagan Eilert, Khylie Mihm, Kalista Hubert, and Hannah Burks in 11:08.2.

 

Bronze medal winners were Sydney Barrett in the discus at 106’11”, Blaise Spangler in the pole vault at 10’0”, and Khylie Mihm in the 300m hurdles in 51.96.

 

Coach Isbell said, “The teams really showed some toughness. Although some of the times and distances aren’t seasonal or personal bests, the kids really stepped up as a team and competed well. We are working on getting healthy and we’re pleased with our progress and look forward to continuing to improve”.

 

The next action for the Trojan track teams will be the Phillipsburg meet held on Thursday, April 19. The field events will begin at 3:00pm and running finals will start at 6:00pm.
