Armand Joseph Balthazor, age 91 of Concordia, passed away on April 23, 2018, at Mount Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, KS. Armand was born on May 6, 1926, in Concordia, KS to Philip and Mary (Aslin) Balthazor. Armand attended schools in Clyde, KS. He married Helen Lee Appleby on Sept. 14, 1948, in Clyde, KS. During the 50's, Armand and Helen operated several local restaurants in the Clyde and Clifton area, including the Clyde Café. They also operated a restaurant in Eugene, OR until returning to Concordia to operate the Frontier Café. Armand worked at St. Joseph hospital as a chef and retired after 25 years of service. He served in the Navy as a Seaman Second Class during World War II. Armand was a devout Catholic and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia. In his free time, Armand loved to go golfing, riding his scooter, and playing Santa Claus. He was a Concerned Citizen of Concordia & a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #76. For the last year, Armand resided at Mount Joseph Senior Village, where he enjoyed the staff and was King Valentine. Armand received care from Kindred Care Hospice the past 2 years.

As last of his generation, Armand is survived by, sons: James Balthazor (Cindy), Russell, Fred Balthazor, Kansas City, Greg Balthazor, Wichita, Patrick Balthazor (Jamie), Concordia; daughters, Cynthia Cleveland (Michael), Salina & Christine Sevigny, Topeka; several grandchildren & great grandchildren & numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Everett, George, and Albert Balthazor, and sister Ruby Balthazor; grandson Kirk Balthazor & infant great-grandson Benjamin Cleveland. Armand was also preceded in death by the love of his life for 68 years, Helen, in Nov. of 2016.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Fr. David Metz. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde, where Armand will be laid to rest next to his wife. Visitation will be Friday, April 27, 2018, from 1-9 PM, with a Vigil service at 6 PM, with family greeting friends after the Rosary, all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
