Kent Bixby, Age 92

Kent graduated from the Hardy High School with the class fo 1943. He was the quarterback for the Hardy Dragons Championship Football Team. Kent was enlisted in the Merchant Marines. On September 17, 1949, he was united in marriage to Delores "Dee" Whitney at the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior and to this marriage, three sons were born.

Kent was the owner of the Bovie Express newspaper in Bovie, Minnesota in his early years. He then went to photo and engraving school in Hastings, NE followed by a position at the Hastings Tribune. It was then he & the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he took a job as GM of the Ward Anderson Printing Co. He then took ownership of his own business, Modern Printing, and also owned Western Printing, both in Albuquerque.

In 1994, Kent and Dee moved back home to Superior where he spent his retirements. He was a member of the Toastmasters in Hastings and a member of the Superior American Legion.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kirk. He is survived by his wife, Dee, of Superior; two sons, Dr Greg Bixby (Debra) of Salida, CO and Joel Bixby (Diane) of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren Jennifer (Jason) Blythe, Erika (Tyler) Jones, Sarah (Seth) Hess, and Nichole (partner Rodney Glenn) Bixby; great-grandchildren Abby & Colby Jones, Kale Hess, Jillian Glenn, and Easton & Owen Blythe along with a host of other relatives and friends.
