Vernon William Kaldahl, the son of John and Vera (Riber) Kaldahl, was born on April 24, 1929 in Nora, Nebraska. He passed away on December 19, 2018 at his home at Hardy, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 7 months, 25 days.
Vernon was a Hardy High School graduate and attended one year at Dana College. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for over 40 years.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Laursen on July 23, 1950 at Bethany Lutheran Church at Ruskin, Nebraska. This union was blessed with two daughters and two sons. Vernon lived and farmed in the Hardy and Ruskin area all his life. He was a past member of the Hardy School Board, St. Paul Church Council, the Studebaker Club, Pleasure Cruisers Car Club, and Danish Brotherhood.
He loved to travel and meet new people. One of his greatest joys was taking his grandkids on their many skiing trips. He also enjoyed restoring Studebaker cars. For many years he was a dedicated runner and later in life was a dedicated walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Vera; brother Donald; son-in-law Joe Miller; and grandson Jeff Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; his children Joyce Graves and husband Jesse of Ely, Iowa; Janet Miller of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; John and wife Mary of Hardy, Nebraska; and Bruce and wife Sue of Kansas City, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
