Janette Lucille Mussmann, 84

Janette Lucille Mussmann of Hebron, NE formerly Ruskin, NE was born October 2, 1934 in Ruskin to Christian and Vita (Goldbeck) Houtwed. She departed this life Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home in Hebron, NE at the age of 84 years.
She grew up in Ruskin attending school and graduating from Ruskin High School with the class of 1952. After graduation she went to Dana College in Blair, NE.
She married Verlan Mussmann on January 24, 1953 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of one son.
Janette was a busy housewife and Verlan's best helper on the farm. Verlan left for Korea with the United States Army shortly after they were married. She helped with chores, raised a large vegetable garden, and worked in her flower garden. She helped wherever she was needed.
Her and her husband loved to sing. She was a member of the church choir at Bethany. When they retired they moved to Hebron where they were members of Grace Lutheran Church and of course joining the choir.
Janette enjoyed sewing, cooking, traveling with her husband to many places including their favorite places Alaska, and Canada and taking cruises. But her most enjoyable time was with her family especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Verlan of Hebron, son Dave Mussmann and wife Deb of Ruskin, one brother Allen Houtwed and wife Karen of York, NE, grandchildren; Kristi Beethe and husband Ben of Steinauer, NE, Kelly Schuster and husband Jared of Tecumseh, NE, and Trenton Mussmann of Omaha, NE, great-grandchild; Macey Pietzyk and fiance Logan Moore of Roca, NE, Trevor Pietzyk of Steiner, NE, Cameron and Kaityn Schuster of Tecumseh, NE, and Eve and Brayden Beethe of Steinauer, NE nieces; Angie Johnson and husband Joe of York, NE, Deb Mulnex and husband Brian of Linclon, NE, nephew Brian Houtwed and wife Becky of Maxwelton, WV, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial Service will be February 15, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron at 11:00 AM. Pastor Keith Brozek officiating, Brenda Striggow organist, congregational hymns "In The Garden" and "Amazing Grace", and "How Great Thou Art", honorary casket bearers are the grandchildren and great-grandchild. No visitation/cremation. Inurnment will be in Spring Creek Cemetery Ruskin, NE. Memorial in care of the family. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com.
