Clarence "Shorty" Hatfield, age 97

Clarence Hatfield, known since childhood as Shorty, passed away on April 12, 2019 in Denver, Colorado, at the age of 97.

Clarence was born September 12, 1921 in Smith Center, KS, the son of Clinton Hatfield and Vesta (Pennington) Hatfield of Smith County Kansas. Clarence married the forever love of his life Lorena Conn of Harlan, Kansas in May 1942. They committed their lives to following the Bible.

Clarence served in the U.S. Army during WW2. After the army, he made a career of being a well-known mechanic in Kansas and Colorado.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Fern (Bud) Taylor of Texas and Nick (Carolyn) Hatfield of Colorado - three grandchildren Tanya (Andy) Ward of Texas, Ty (Jill) Taylor of Texas, and Nicholas (Chris) Hatfield of Colorado - seven great-grandchildren Brandon Ward of Texas, Ethan, Logan, and Abby Taylor of Texas, and Cate, Max and Theo Hatfield of Colorado, all of which Clarence and Lorena loved dearly.

A celebration of Shorty's life will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2018 at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center, KS. There will not be a public visitation as cremation was chosen. Memorials may be given in his name and sent in care of the funeral chapel. www.allfaithsfuneralchapel.com.
