H. Loudale Myers-Yenne, 94

Helen Loudale Meyers-Yenne was born December 11, 1924, in Thornburg, Kan., to the Rev. William J. Brown and Helen (Crocker) Brown. Loudale was welcomed by her two year old sister Winnie and they would become lifelong best friends. Twelve years later, Winnie and Loudale were joined by little sister Karen.
Reverend and Mrs. Brown both taught school and Loudale enjoyed not only being in their classrooms but helping with lessons as well. After graduation from Gaylord High School in 1942, she even substitute taught for them.
In 1945 Loudale married Urban Ross (Bud) Meyers. After living in California and a brief time in Oklahoma while Bud was in the service, the couple settled in Smith Center to raise their two boys, Bren and Joel.
After retiring from the Postal Service, Bud started an Accounting and Tax Service. Loudale assisted Bud and found that she had a real knack for working with figures. After Bud's early death in January 1973 at the age of 49, Loudale took over the business and ran it herself. Loudale sold the business after several months as it was just not the same for her after Bud was gone. She missed him terribly. She was however extremely proud of herself for making it through that tax season without him. Loudale had called Fort Hays State University and asked for the names of some recent accounting graduates whom she hired for tax season. There were three young men who came up to help out. Loudale did returns alongside these young men and did not have a single return rejected. The three young men she hired could not say the same as Loudale had to correct their errors and resubmit every one of their returns.
Loudale was an avid baseball fan. The Chicago Cubs were her team. But even more than watching the Cubbies, she loved watching her grandchildren play ball. Bren and his wife Carolyn had three boys and all three were baseball players, Chad, T.J. and Seth. Joel and his wife Hope had a daughter Jarrah and she too would take to the field to play softball. Jarrah played as a starter all four years of College at Notre Dame. Loudale made it to every one of her grandchildren's games she possibly could and was so proud of their talent.
In 1974 Raymond Yenne came into her life and along with him his five children, Calvin, Jack, Jill, Patti and Julee.
Loudale loved to travel, she and Ray spent winters traveling to warmer destinations, Florida, South and Central America, the Bahamas and she loved to reminisce about their adventures. Loudale was always on the road, from her parents and Winnie in Iola, Kan., to Karen and her family in Florida. The Lady would just pack her bags and go.
Loudale often said she felt lucky to have had two great loves in her life, Bud and Ray. She will be laid to rest between them at Fairview Cemetery in Smith Center.
Loudale was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, brother-in-law John Lawrence, sister Karen Wertz, daughter-in-law Hope Meyers and nephew Kent Lawrence.
She leaves behind her son, Dr. Bren Meyers & his wife Carolyn, along with their three sons, Chad, Todd (T.J) & wife Jacque, Seth & wife Hannah; her son, Joel Meyers & his wife Cynthia, Joel's daughter Jarrah & husband Jason; along with eight great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Calvin Yenne, Jack Yenne & wife Kathy, Jill Yenne-Flint and husband William, Patti Horton and husband Michael, Julee Kirnie and husband Gerry; a very special nephew, Bret Lawrence and wife Linda; eight step grandchildren, and eight step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, September 5, at Simmons-Rentschler Mortuary, 116 W. First Street, Smith Center, Kan.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 6, at Fairview Cemetery, 1309 N. Main, Smith Center.
