Edwin D. Weeks, 80

Edwin Dean Weeks (Dean), age 80 of Cawker City, died September 15, 2019, at the Mitchell County Hospital, Beloit.
He was born on a farm near Beaver May 2, 1939.
His parents were Viola (Leurman) Weeks and George Weeks. He had three brothers, George, Terry and Loren.
Dean spent his youth growing up on a farm east of Cawker City. This farm is now part of Waconda Lake. He attended school in Cawker City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He also played football and other sports for the Cawker City Pirates. He attended the Friends Church south of Glen Elder as a youth. He later joined the Cawker City United Methodist Church.
He attended Fort Hays one year, and then in August 1957 joined the Kansas Army National Guard. He received his honorary discharge after serving eight years - three years active duty and five years reserve duty.
Dean was a farmer. Crops he raised were corn, wheat, soybeans, milo. He also had a small cow/calf operation. Some of his crops were on irrigated ground. He loved to listen to the water running down the rows. Many hours were spent moving irrigation pipe.
He worked very hard on the farm and was best known for making straight rows. He retired from farming in 2017.
One of his favorite hobbies was trapping. He knew what animals were in the area just by looking at the tracks. He liked hunting and fishing too, but by far trapping was his favorite.
Four children were born from his first marriage, Julie (Larry) Bernard, Russell; Rick (Donna) Weeks, Cawker City; Troy (Janelle) Weeks, Middleton, Idaho; and Tiffany (Gary) Putnam, Wichita.
Stepchildren: Scott (Jamie) Schneider, Russell; Kimberly (Brent) Steinle, Lucas.
Grandchildren: Brady (Jessica) Frewen, Brighton, Colorado; Hailey (Cody) Braz, St. Francis; Jade Weeks, Las Vegas Nevada; Raven Weeks, Meridian, Idaho; Allegra Weeks, Grants Pass, Oregon; Nicholas Weeks, Ark City; Nathan Weeks, Cawker City; Kennedy Putnam, Kasey Putnam, Wichita.
Step-grandchildren: Noah Schneider, Lawrence; Brittni Hays, Bristol, Rhode Island; Tristen (Isaiah) Stierlen, Russell; Seth Schneider, Russell; Trai (Jazmayn) Heenan, Wichita; Ty (Tish) Heenan, Lucas; Brittni Steinle, Salina; Bailee Steinle, Lincoln, Nebraska; and Jaxson Heenan, Lucas.
Great-grandchildren: Maverick and McKenna Braz, St. Francis; Ryker Weeks, Glen Elder; Julian Heenan, Wichita; and Dalaynee Benoit, Wichita.
Loved ones who preceded Dean in death are his parents George and Viola (Leurman) Weeks, brother Terry Weeks, brother George Weeks.
Dean is survived by his wife Carol, all his children, brother Loren (Jolene) Weeks, sister-in-law Doretta Weeks.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday, September 20, at the Cawker City United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 PM Thursday, September 19 at the Church. Memorials may be given to the Church.
