Mathew Francis Hake, 92

Mathew Francis Hake passed away peacefully at the age of 92, on October 2, 2019 in Downs, KS. Junior, as he was known to those who knew and loved him, lived a full life. He was a beloved brother, uncle, and kind hearted friend.
Junior was born in Cawker City, KS on May 31, 1927 to Mathew and Elizabeth (Smith) Hake and was a life long resident of the area. His parents passed down their passion for farming and helping him become a highly respected farmer and rancher.
Junior had fond memories of riding the train to the Kansas City stockyards, eating at past restaurants such as Bob's Inc., Northside Cafe, steaks at the Big Barn or Big John's Steakhouse, and bowling. His favorite past times were watching old westerns such as Boomerang, and Jayhawk and Wildcat football. He also enjoyed watching the NFL Kansas City Chiefs and eating beef jerky.
He was preceded in death by: parents; sisters, Katharyn and Dorothy; brothers, Raymond and Melvin; nephew, Gary Reiter; and very dear friend, Lois Otto.
Survivors include: sister, Mildred Bachofer (Frank); nieces, Lynn Cobey (Dana), and Linda Saathoff (Lynn); nephews, Tim Hake (Marilyn), Terry Hake, Mark Bachofer, Ron Reiter (Marcia), and Larry Reiter (Connie); and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
The Family wishes to extend a special thank you to Erick and Buffy Kadel who helped care for Junior, and assisted with his personal and professional affairs during the last years of his life. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cawker City, and member of the Knights of Columbus.
Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, with Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at Schoen Funeral Home and Monuments, Beloit. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2019.
