Edward Rempe, 91

Edward Henry Rempe, the son of Henry and Magdalena (Ilg) Rempe, was born on October 13, 1928 at Mt. Clare, Nebraska. He passed away on November 14, 2019 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 1 day.
Ed was baptized on October 21, 1928 and confirmed on June 10, 1941 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. He attended grade school and St. Stephen's parochial school. He farmed near Mt. Clare until 1948 then moved to a farm near Cadams.
He was inducted into the United States Army on March 21, 1951 and honorably discharged on December 20, 1952 serving during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, Ed returned to the farm.
On April 27, 1954 he was united in marriage to Joan Witte at Holy Trinity Church in Blue Hill, Nebraska. This union was blessed with four children. Ed began working at Mid-America Dairymen in 1964, moving his family to Superior in 1969. He worked as a foreman retiring in 1993 after 29 years of employment.
After retirement, Ed and Joan loved to travel, he enjoyed golfing, coffee with the guys and of course watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. His family was important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them.
Ed was a member of the American Legion, VFW, DAV, the Superior Country Club and St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He entered the Superior Good Samaritan Society on November 4, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Magdalena; brothers John, Alphonse (LaVeta), Arthur (Rita) and Leonard (Lorraine) and his sister Berniece (Clem) Kimminau.
Survivors include his wife Joan of Superior; their children, Karen (Bruce) Tinkham, of Superior; David (Cindy) of Abilene; Patty (Mike) Eggers of Superior; and Betty (Brad) Johnson of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren: Kassie (Jared) Mitchell, Kellie (Josh) VanDeWalle, Kori Tinkham, Tony Rempe (friend Candace Culver), Jessica (Matt) Spade, Nathan Eggers, Nicole (John) Woodard, Vince (fiancé Lindsey Dillon) Johnson, Vanessa (Chris) Fabiano and Valerie (Andrew) Rubin; 4 great grandchildren; brothers Raymond (Lucille) Rempe of Lincoln; and Elmer (Maxine) Rempe of Superior; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Mass of Christian Burial held at St Joseph Catholic Church, Superior, Nebraska, Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 10:30 am. Father Ferdinand Boehme will officiate.
Burial with military honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Superior, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brodstone Memorial Hospital, or the Superior Country Club.
Visitation and Rosary will be held at St. Joseph's Monday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the rosary recited at 7:30. The family will be present after the rosary for fellowship in the basement.
