James R. Stoller, 73

James "Jim" Ray Stoller of Smith Center passed away February 11, 2020 at the age of 73. Jim was born July 19, 1946, to Glenn and Reba (Cowan) Stoller in Smith Center, Kan. After graduating from Smith Center High School in 1964 he attended Fort Hays State University where he enjoyed singing with the music department. After college his favorite jobs were being Assistant Manager at Bear House Truck Stop at Bunker Hill, Kan., on I-70; Working at a radio station in Denver, Colo.; The National Guard Armory in Smith Center; and helping his parents at the family farm.
Jim will be remembered for being a caring, generous person and having a laugh as big as his heart. He took pride in being the family card-giver and he never missed sending a birthday card to every family member. After he lost his eyesight, he still thoroughly enjoyed receiving cards and especially appreciated cookies from his nieces Debbie, Sandy, Angie D. and Angie S. on his birthday. You could feel his joy during phone calls from family and hear him laugh when his great nieces and nephew, Abby, Katy and Brady sang happy birthday to him.
From Soap box to Go-Cart racers to Sprint cars to Stock cars to Nascar, he was an avid race car fan. He also was a great resource if you wanted know the latest status of any games involving KU, K-State KC Chiefs or KC Royals
Above all, the part of his life that he cherished the most were his family and many friends.
Jim is survived by his sister Karen (Leon) Anderson of Leawood, Kan.; his brother Jack Stoller of Lake Charles, La.; nieces, Debbie (Bill) McCoy of Overland Park, Sandra (Richard) Schwagerl of Leawood, Angela (Norman) Davidson of Lake Charles, La.; nephews, Dennis (Patti) Anderson of Kansas City, Mo., and Shaun (Angela) Stoller of Owasso, Okla.; sixteen great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, brother Paul Stoller and sister-in-law Tena Stoller.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2020 at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center, KS, with Pastor Maggie McIntosh officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2020 at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center. Memorials may be given to Hospice Services of Smith County and sent in care of the funeral chapel.
