Samuel Kenneth Stevenson, age 80, of Miltonvale, Kansas, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, Kansas. He was born on May 17, 1939 in Idana, Kansas, to Samuel D. and Cleo B. (Angelo) Stevenson.
Samuel attended Clay Center High School, Clay Center, Kansas.
He served in the United States Navy from 1958-1962.
He married Brenda Charles in Oregon on August 7, 1964 and they later divorced. He later married Wendy (Short) Simmons on December 28, 1985 in Harrisburg, Oregon. She survives of the home.
He worked for Sherman Bros. in Eugene, Oregon, Fred Lucas Trucking in Monroe, Oregon, C&C Trucking in Concordia, Kansas, and then later Samuel was self-employed as a Truck Driver for serveral years until his retirement.
Samuel enjoyed participating in Tractor Pulls, cribbage, cards and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Stevenson, Miltonvale; his children; Dianna Stevenson-Orndoff (Jeff), Conifer, Colorado; Charles Stevenson, Springfield, Oregon; Shelia Copple, Miltonvale, Kansas; Heather Kennedy (Brodie), Miltonvale, Kansas; Melissa Jackson (Raymond), Salina, Kansas; Samuel L. Stevenson (Francisca), Ft. Lewis, Washington; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Rita Harms, Wrangler, Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James Stevenson, great-granddaughter, Layla Kennedy, two nieces, Janice Harms and Maxine Stevenson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 1-8 pm with the family receiving friends from 6-8 pm all at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
It was Samuel's wishes to be cremated and a celebration of life service will be held 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Christian Church in Miltonvale, Kansas, with Pastor Bob Burns officiating.
There will be private family Inurnment at a later time at the Miltonvale Cemetery, Miltonvale, Kansas, with Military honors conducted by the US Navy Military Honor Guard.
The family suggests memorials to 22 Buddy Check or NCK Down Syndrome Society in care of the funeral home.
