James "Jim" H. Buoy, 85

James Hollinger Buoy, age 85, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020, at his home in Concordia, Kan. He was born March 17th, 1935, in Concordia, Kan., to Glenn Clark and Iva Meredith (Hollinger) Buoy.
Jim attended Cottonwood School in Meredith Township through 8th grade and graduated from Concordia High School in 1953. He graduated from Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1956 and began his life's calling as a Funeral Director and Embalmer. He began his career at Smith Funeral Home in 1952. In 1968, he purchased the Blachly Funeral Home in Jamestown, Kan. In 1973, he became manager of Blachly & Buoy Funeral Home in Jamestown, Kan., Chaput Mortuary in Clyde, Kan., and Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia, Kan. He retired in 2001, after a nearly 50 year career serving the needs of over 5000 families.
On November 1st, 1956 he was united in marriage to Alice Jean Marsh, daughter of John H. and Wanda E. (Woodhams) Marsh, at Idana Wesleyan Church, Idana, Kan. To this union four children were born: Kimberly, Keenan, Angela and Jared.
Jim is survived by his wife Jean of Concordia, Kan.; daughter, Kimberly Buoy of Concordia; son, Keenan and wife Lisa (Mullins) Buoy, Carmel, Ind., and their children, Andrew James Buoy of Terre Haute, Ind., and Sarah Christina Buoy of Carmel, Ind.; daughter, Angela and husband Horace Hoobler of Maple Hill, Kan., and their children Shaun Hoobler, Erie, Colo., and his children, Zachery and Hollie and Jeff (Julie) Hoobler of Boulder, Colo., and their daughter, Parker; son, Jared and wife Traci (Letourneau) Buoy, Newton, Kan., and their children Rylee and Reagan Moe, Newton, and Conner James Buoy, LaVernia, Texas; and grand-dog Toby Jim, his support and therapy grand-dog in his final months. Jim is also survived by his sister, Barbara J. (Buoy) Foster of McLoud, Okla., brother-in-law Loren (Winnetta) Marsh, Lowell (Robin) Marsh, sister-in-law Thelma (Bill) Wetmore, and nephews Randal Marsh, Rodney Marsh, Kelby Marsh, Nathan Wetmore, Kelvin Wetmore and niece Kara Marsh Adams.
He was preceded by his parents, Glenn and Iva Buoy, and brother-in-law Aaron Foster.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 23, 2020 from 1-8 pm at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
A Memorial Mass for the public will be announced at a later date.
The family suggests memorials to the Sisters of St. Joseph Roof Fund or Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home.
