Michael Ray Coffey, Jr., 48

Michael Ray Coffey, Jr,. 48, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, Neb.
Michael was born September 25, 1971 in Takoma Park, Md., the son of Michael Ray Coffey Sr. and Mona Kay (Antrim) Coffey. Michael grew up in Norton, Kan., attended the Norton Schools, graduating with the class of 1991.
On August 10, 1996 Michael and Amy (Nelson) Coffey were united in marriage in Norton, Kan. To this union they were blessed with two children, Kayla and Zach. Michael enjoyed working for the City of Norton, Parks & Cemetery Department, but more than the work itself he loved the camaraderie he had with his co-workers.
Michael was a member of the Norton Christian Church and the Norton Eagles Lodge. He loved all kinds of sports throughout his life, from playing baseball and football in High School, to coaching little kids baseball later in life. Michael enjoyed fishing, camping, working in his garden, outdoor activities with his family and friends and playing with his dogs. However, anyone that knew Michael knew that his favorite hobby was loving life, laughing and teasing his family, especially his wife Amy. He loved children and they were drawn to him wherever he went. His greatest joy was spending as much time as possible with his family and friends.
Michael is survived by the love of his life, his wife Amy Coffey of the home in Norton; a daughter Kayla (Jake) Branch of Zurich, Kan.; a son Zach Coffey of the home in Norton; parents Mike and Mona Coffey of Norton; a sister Michelle Garwood of Norton; father and mother-in-law Bill and Doris Nelson of Norton; brother-in-law Blain Nelson of Norton; sister-in-law Missy (Brian) McMullen of Norton. Special Uncles J.W. Antrim of Hays, Kan., Jim Antrim of Norton, cousin Tim Boteler of Arvada, Colo., and special friend, the last of the three amigos, Tobi Boller of Norton. Many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Virginia Antrim; paternal grandparents Wade and Evelyn Coffey; three aunts, Lita Arehart, Fran Loveccio, and Gloria Coffey; two uncles, Robert and Dean Coffey; one brother-in-law Blake Nelson, and one special friend, Jimmy Underwood.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held at 10:30 am. Saturday March 28, 2020 at Norton Christian Church, 208 N Kansas Ave, Norton, Kan., with Pastor Nate Hagan officiating. There will not be a public visitation as cremation was chosen. Memorials may be given to Michael Ray Coffey Jr. Memorial Fund and can be sent in care of All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S Madison St, Smith Center, KS 66967.
