City of Beloit - Wastewater Plant Operator I

The City of Beloit is accepting applications for the position of Wastewater Plant Operator I.

Assists to monitor the performance of all equipment, gauges and charts in the treatment plant and pump stations; records statistical data concerning plant operations; assists to maintain, operate, repair and replace equipment as necessary; charts routine lab test results for trend analysis and maintains accurate records of analyses and test results.
Assists to operate, maintain and repair malfunctions at the wastewater treatment plant, and to repair gauges, pumps, filters and other controls and equipment.
Collects samples and learns to identify concentrations of chemical, physical or biological characteristics of wastewater required in accordance with local, State and Federal requirements.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:(A) Valid State driver's license.
(B) Certification as a Class I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator within one year of appointment.
Hiring Range $11.41-$16.24/hr. Benefits include health insurance, KPERS retirement, uniforms, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. The successful applicant must reside within a 15 minute legal drive of the city limits within 6 months of the date of employment.
