Harlan Snyder, Age 78

Harlan Duane Snyder, age 78, lifetime Concordia resident, entered into rest on September 13, 2016 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia. He was born on September 9, 1938 at Concordia, Kansas to Claude C. and Laura A. (Bond) Snyder.

He married Dorothy M. Lang on Sept. 27, 1960 in Cuba, KS. Duane worked for Boogaarts warehouse and later was a truck driver delivering to different stores. He owned the Bar S and later became a self-employed truck driver until his retirement. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged on October 21, 1962. He was member of the American Legion Post #76 & former member of Moose Lodge #1428 both of Concordia. Duane enjoyed watching old westerns, sports and spending time with friends and family. He had a great sense of humor, which he never lost to the very end of his life.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of the home; Daughter, Kim Snyder (fiancé Randy Peterson), sons, Jon Snyder and Randy Snyder, grand-daughters, Sierra & Shaina Wright, all of Concordia; sister, Darlene Ellison, Jamestown & numerous nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Katie Kagle, Frances Richard, Verna Hunt, Betty James & Irene Snyder; brothers, Robert, Bernard, Howard, Donald & Marvin Snyder.

It's was Duane's wishes to be cremated and Memorial services will be at 10:30 am, Fri., Sept. 16, 2016 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Dean R. Frazier officiating. Military honors by the U.S. Marine Corp. will follow the services at the funeral home. Friends may sign the register book from 8 am to 5 pm, Thurs., Sept. 15, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to the Cloud County Food Bank in c/o the funeral home.
