Beloit Boys and Girls Track Teams Compete at Belleville Lions Club Invitational Tuesday April 18th

The Beloit Trojans traveled to Belleville on Tuesday, April 21 to participate in the Belleville Lions Club Invitational. This meet has two divisions, an upper division of 2A, 3A, and 4A schools, which the Trojans competed in, and a lower division of 1A schools.

 

The Trojan boys brought home a total of 20 medals (1 gold, 10 silver, 9 bronze) and won the meet with 104.5 points. Nemaha Central was second with 104 points, and Republic County was third with 93 points.

 

The only gold medal winner for Beloit was Brendon Mason in the high jump at 6’0”.

 

Silver medal winners were Creighton Johnson in the discus at 141’10”, Hunter Budke in the 110m high hurdles in 16.52, the 4X400m relay team of Blaine Burks, Brendon Mason, Paxton Harris, and Ryan Jackson in 3:41.45, and the 4X800m relay team of Blaine Burks, Brendon Mason, Trase McQueen, and Ryan Jackson in 8:55.3.

 

Bronze medal winners were Colin Budke in the long jump at 19’11”, the triple jump at 41’1”, and the 100m dash in 11.86, Colin Chandler in the shot put at 42’10”, Vincent Palen in the high jump at 5’8”, and the 4X100m relay team of Tate Ahlvers, Colin Budke, Ryan Jackson, and Jace Walker in 45.07.

 

The Lady Trojans brought home a total of 18 medals (3 gold, 7 silver, 8 bronze) and won the meet with 116 points. Concordia was second with 110 points, and Nemaha Central was third with 107 points.

 

Gold medal winners for Beloit were Hannah Burks in the 3200m run in a new school record time of 12:02.31, Sydney Johnson in the discus at 141’4”, and Kourtni Hubert in the javelin at 138’7”.

 

Silver medal winners were Trinity Wagner in the 400m dash in 1:04.0, Hayley Burks in the 1600m run in 5:59.17, Kourtni Hubert in the shot put at 38’2”, and the 4X800m relay team of Hayley Burks, Khylie Mihm, Kalista Hubert, and Hannah Burks in 10:52.13.

 

Bronze medal winners were Blaise Spangler in the pole vault at 10’6”, MacKenzie VanPelt in the 100m hurdles in 17.52, Karissa Winkel in the 300m hurdles in 53.55, Sydney Barrett in the javelin at 118’11”, and the 4X400m relay team of Trinity Wagner, Hayley Burks, Kalista Hubert, and Hannah Burks in 4:25.99.

 

Coach Isbell said, “The teams really showed some toughness. Although some of the times and distances aren’t seasonal or personal bests, the kids really stepped up as a team and competed well. Overall, we’re pleased with our progress and look forward to continuing to improve”.

 

The next action for the Trojan track teams will be the Phillipsburg meet held on Friday, April 21. The field events will begin at 3:00pm and running event prelims will begin at 4:30pm, with finals starting around 6:00pm.
