Patricia Joerg, Age 60

Patricia Ann (Viles) Joerg was born November 2, 1956, in Emporia, KS, daughter of Albert Lee Viles and Katie Joyce (High) Viles. She passed away at her home in Formoso, KS on Friday, August 25, 2017 at the age of 60 years. Pat grew up in the Carbondale area, then attended Vocational-Technical school in Topeka receiving certification as an electrician and, then, in communications. She excelled in her fields so also taught at the Vo-Tech. Pat married Kenny Joerg on June 11,1994. She had a number of jobs in the early years but, then, went to Beloit for her LPN degree and received her R.N. degree from Cloud County Community College. While doing that, Pat also became an EMT. Pat worked at the Jewell County Hospital for 18 years in many capacities. She began as a CNA, then as an LPN, then as an RN. She served as the Director of Nurses at two different times. She also received certification so she could work in the lab and x-ray which was what she enjoyed most.

Pat was preceded in death by her father, Albert Lee Viles, step-fathers, Charles Robert Gillum, Sr., and John McGrew and brother Lonnie Ray Viles.

She is survived by her mother, Katie Joyce Gillum, Cape Fair, MO.; husband, Kenneth Joerg of their home; children Jeremy Bowers (Ivy) of Springfield, MO.; Katie Bowers of Mankato, KS; and Brandon Bowers of Topeka; step-children Greg Joerg, Wichita; Brian Joerg, Kansas City; and Vicki Joerg, Hays; brother Charles Robert Gillum, Jr., Cape Fair, MO.; 9 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 1 step-greatgrandchild; nieces, nephews and lots and lots of friends.

Visitation will be at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral home Tuesday, Aug. 29, from 1-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 3 p.m. at the Mankato Community Center, 214 N. High St., Mankato, KS.

Memorials may be made to the Jewell County Hospital, nursing, lab & x-ray departments. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas is in charge of these arrangements.
