The Mitchell County Commissioners met at the Courthouse Monday morning, July 9, to conduct the business of the County. All three commissioners were present. The County Clerk, Chris Treaster was absent and Kristi Hillman, Deputy Clerk, sat in for her.

The commissioners were facing a light agenda with only one item before them, a report by the Director of EMS regarding repairs to the roof and sides of the Ambulance barn. As fate would have it, Director Eric Hamel was called out to assist with a worse than usual traffic accident and would not be appearing at the meeting.

A request has been received for the commissioners to nominate a person to serve on the Central Kansas Library Board. This Board meets only twice a year in May and August. It is hoped that a candidate from a rural area of Mitchell County could be nominated. This is viewed as a good opportunity for citizens in rural Mitchell County in acquiring books for the children in rural areas. Anyone interested in being considered for this position should contact the Mitchell County Clerk for additional information.

Economic Development Specialist, Heather Hartman, reported there would be no SVED meeting in July and the August meeting would be August 9th.

The Beloit City Manager reported that water main replacement is proceeding as scheduled and planning work continues on future work to be done on North Walnut. He also said that work is continuing on the water plant/pipeline project.
