Deen Woods, 64

Deen E. Woods was born on December 17, 1954 in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Patrick Duane and Joan Wilson Woods. He departed this life Monday, June 3, 2019 at the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas at the age of 64.
Deen grew up and spent most of his life in the Beloit area. As a young child, he took a great interest in cars, and was always tinkering on race cars and go-karts. He loved being by his father's side in his mechanic's shop known as Pat's Garage. He attended schools in Beloit, and was a great athlete in both football and basketball, although he wouldn't admit to his athleticism. He graduated from Beloit High School in 1973.
Deen worked for the City of Beloit, at the power plant, with both his dad and his brother Dan, and later moved to Oklahoma, where he worked for Cooper-Bessmer for several years. He returned to Beloit and spent time working for R&M Parts, Cawker City Equipment, NAPA, and O'Reilly's as store manager. He also drove a truck, hauling grain.
Deen loved to race and be involved with anything to do with racing, including visiting about racing with anyone who wanted to talk about it. He enjoyed teaching people about cars and mechanics. He never knew a stranger. He also loved being the host, and would often invite his family and friends to his house for social gatherings, often playing dominoes, games or cards. He was known for his personal quotes and sayings.
He greatly loved his kids. Deen also cared and worried about others, even in his final days in the hospital.
Deen was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Patrick Daniel "Woody".
He is survived by his fiancé, Nichole McDaniel; children, Chad and his wife Keri of Salina, Patrick and his wife Laura of Dallas, TX, Shealene of Wichita, and Chole and his fiance' Rylee of Clay Center; sisters, Charlene Abell of Beloit, Glada Cooper of Beloit, Mary Hyman of Beloit; five grandchildren, Ashlynd, Paedyn, Zoee, Sterling, and Palmer; along with many nieces and nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Monday, June 10 at the Beloit First United Methodist Church. The family requests casual attire. Visitation will be from 1-8 PM with family present from 5-7 PM Sunday, June 9, at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Deen Woods Memorial Fund or the Kansas Antique Racers (KAR).
