Marvin L. Houdek, 77

Marvin Lee Houdek, the son of Charles W. Houdek and Ann R. (Vesely) Houdek, was born October 18, 1942 in Belleville, Kansas, and passed away on November 18, 2019 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, at the age of 77 years and 1 month.
Marvin attended the local schools at Albion, Ida, and later Munden, Kansas, where he graduated from high school. He then attended and studied agriculture at Fairbury Jr. College, Fairbury, Nebraska. Marvin served with the Army National Guard for five and a half years and was called to active duty, serving at posts in the United States.
On January 12, 1974, Marvin was united in marriage to Connie Rae Williams and to this union was born: Lori, Tiffiny, Amy, and Kyle. The couple live on the family farm in rural Munden. She preceded him in death on September 12, 2002. On October 29, 2005, he was united in marriage to Janis Sams and the couple lived on the family farm and in Belleville.
Marvin was involved in farming his entire life, working with his family (Father and Brother) and later on his own. He was still involved with the farm operation.
Marvin was a member of the Belleville/Concordia American Legion, and the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, Kansas. He enjoyed working with his children during their involvement in 4-H and their other activities.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ann Houdek, and his wife Connie.
He is survived by his wife, Janis Houdek of Belleville, Kansas; one son, Kyle D. Houdek of Jacksonville, Florida; three daughters, Lori M. (Troy) Frybarger of rural Munden, Kansas, Tiffiny J. Houdek of Denton, Texas, and Amy R. (Caleb) Knepper of League City, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Kayla, Jacob, Peyton, Amelia, Lucy, Nicole, Bryan, Chandler, Collin, Hannah, and Ethan; one great-grandchild, Hallie Jane; one brother, Gary L. Houdek of rural Munden, Kansas; one step-son, Scott A. (Jennifer) Sams of Jefferson, Georgia; three step-daughters, Jo Lynn (Alan) Edmonson of Millidgeville, Georgia, Larae J. Sams of New Port Richey, Florida, and Dawn D. (Tod) Crimmins, of Wesley Chapel, Florida; other relatives, and friends.
Cremation was selected and memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, Kansas, with Reverend Sang Hak Lee, officiating.
Inurnment will be at the Tabor Cemetery, rural Munden, Kansas, following the reception at the Church after the memorial services.
Friends may call from 1 PM until 8 PM on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 6 PM until 8 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
