Beloit to host 34th Annual Kansas 8 Man All Star Games
The 34th Annual Kansas 8 Man All Star Football games will be played in Beloit on Saturday, June 8th. The Division II game will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Trojan Field on North Hersey Avenue. Pregame will begin at 9:30 a.m. with introduction of the players.
The Beloit Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Pep Rally for the players, coaches and fans on Friday, June 7th, starting at 4 p.m. at Chautauqua Park.
Thomas Atkins, Hanover, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Hanover High School.
Hanover reached the playoffs all four years of Thomas' career. They were state champions 3 times with 3 undefeated seasons with an overall record of 50-1.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include basketball state champion in 2017 and state runner-up in 2018.
Thomas was a member of the AAU Summer Basketball team that placed 6th in Nationals. He enjoys playing co-ed softball ad mentoring children.
Activities and honors in school include football, basketball and track.
Thomas' parents are Chris and Teresa Atkins and he plans to attend college and major in business.
Nate Buessing, Axtell, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Axtell High School.
Football accomplishments include selected Twin Valley 2017 8 Man Division II 2nd Team Defensive Linebacker, Wichita Eagle/Varsity Kansas 2017 Class 8 Man Div II All-State Honorable Mention Defensive Linebacker, 2018 Twin Valley League 8 Man Division 2 Second Team Offensive Line.
Axtell was substate runner up 2 years and reached the playoffs 3 years.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include 3 year letter winner in basketball, state tournament participant 2 years, 3 year letter winner in track.
Nate plays summer baseball, Legion baseball and is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoys playing golf, working on the farm, bulldozing and field work, riding dirt bikes, fishing, hunting and shooting guns.
Activities and honors in school include honor roll, FFA, Citizenship Award, Homecoming candidate, Student Council and KAYs.
Nate's parents are Roger and Pam Buessing and he plans to attend Southeast in Milford and become a John Deere technician.

Collin Carlson, St. Paul, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of St. Paul High School.
Football statistics and honors include: 2018 Topeka Capital Journal All State Honorable Mention Linebacker Div II 8 Man, Top 100 KS High School FB Seniors Honorable Mention, Craw-Kam Southeast Kansas All Area FB Team and 2nd Team RB.
St. Paul reached the state playoffs in 2017 and was sub-state champion and state runner up; in 2018 they were District Champs and tied for the league leader.
Collin was member of the 2016 basketball team that was regional runner-up.
He attended Boys' State in 2018 and enjoys spending time with family (especially nieces), playing video games, table tennis and the piano.

Zane Colson, Mankato, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Rock Hills High School.
Football accomplishments include: 2017-2018 - All State 2nd Team Linebacker, All State 1st Team Runningback; 2018: All State 2nd Team Runningback, All State Linebacker 1st Team; 2016, 2017, 2018 - All League Linebacker, Running Back.
Football statistics include: 4,236 yards, 208 solo tackles, 232 assisted tackles, 872 yards special teams, 704 reception yards, 64 rushing TD's, 76 total TD's.
Rock Hills had a 7-3 record in 2015 and was district runner-up; 2016 - 7-2 record; 2017 - 8-2 record, District Runner-Up; 2018 - 7-2 record, District Champions.

Football statistics and accomplishments include 26 games played, 141 total tackles, 5.4 tackles per game, 1 safety, 3 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries. Tristan was a two time selection for 1st Team All-League Defensive Line and one time selection for 1st Team All-League Offensive Line.
In 2017 Axtell was Bi-District Runner Up and in 2018 they were Sub-State Runner Up.

Tristan enjoys hunting and lifting weights and he is a member of KAYS Club.

Dereck Gillett, Esbon, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Rock Hills High School.
Football statistics and accomplishments include: 1327 career passing yards, 301 career rushing yards, 162 career tackles, career quarterback rating 110.7.
In 2017 Rock Hills was District Runner Up and in 2018 they were District and Bi-District Champions.
Honors and accomplishments in other sports include runner up at the state track meeting in the 4x100 relay. He was a member of the 2017-2018 basketball team with a 17-4 record and was named All State Basketball in 2017-2018 by the Wichita Eagle, was selected to the NPL All-Star Basketball team and played in the Cloud County All Star Game.
Dereck enjoys hanging out with the Catalina Boys and weightlifting, fishing and hunting.

Football honors include 3 time All League selection, 4 time letter winner. Statistics include 43 passing touchdowns, 37 rushing touchdowns, 1,918 rushing yds, 2,386 passing yds, 3 year varsity starter, VIP magazine article.
Team achievements include 1st playoff for the team in the past three decades and winning the league title in 2016-2017.

Kyle enjoys hunting, fishing and working out.

Jake Newton, Waverly, has been selected for the Division II East Team. He is a 2019 graduate of Waverly High School.
Football accomplishments and honors include: 2017 & 2018 All State Honorable Mention (8 Man Division II), 2018 8 Man Division II - District 2 All District, 1st Team Offense (RB), Defense (LB), and Special Teams (Returner); Lyon County League: 2018 1st Team Offense/2nd Team Defense, 2017 2nd Team Offense/1st Team Defense.

Jake qualified for the State Track Meeting in the 110m hurdles in 2018.
He has been a member of Tip Top 4-H Club (Waverly, KS) for 12 years and served as president for 3 years; Coffey County 4-H Council Representative for 4 years and Coffey County 4-H Ambassador for 3 years.
Jake enjoys hunting and fishing.
