Marion Francis Roadhouse, 79, peacefully departed this life on February 16th, 2021 at Osborne County Memorial Hospital. He was born to Margueritte (Roenne) and Charles E. Roadhouse on April 4th, 1941 in rural Bloomington, Kan. He completed grade school at the Bloomington rural elementary school. He graduated from Osborne High School in 1959. In 1960, he married Dianne Griffing in rural Smith County. He spent a summer traveling with a harvest crew and was hired by a construction company and moved to Johnson, Kan., for five months working on a building project. The couple moved back to Osborne and he worked for Midway Coop for 16 years. In 1978, he started his own consruction company, Roadhouse Construction, and continued working until he suffered a stroke in February 2014 and was unable to work. Since his stroke, Marion was able to live in the comfort of his home with his loving wife for the last seven years.
He was a member of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Church of Osborne, Kan. Marion devoted his life to his family and work. Marion took a lot of pride in the quality of his work, making sure everything was done to perfection. He was always the first to step up and help when his family was in need. He enjoyed being able to spend time with his grandchildren, who called him "Papa", loved to laugh and talk construction. He could rarely be found sitting still as he always had a list of projects to do. Even after the stroke took his ability to speak, Marion developed his own way of communicating to make sure things were done right. Marion loved his dog, Chewie, who was always by his side.
Marion is survived by his wife of 60 years, of the home; children, Brad Roadhouse and wife Suzanne of Osborne, Kan., Kim Adams of Osborne, Karalee Nichols and Chris, and Kraig Roadhouse and Crystal; sisters, Phyllis Arnold of Alton, Kan., and Violet Junk of Osborne; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Roadhouse, two brother-in-laws, and one great-grandchild.
Visitation was held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Clark-Gashaw Funeral Chapel, 238 N. 1st St., Osborne, Kan.
Funeral Mass was held 10:00 AM Monday, February 22, 2021 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 207 N. Elm, Osborne, Kan.
