MITCHELL COUNTY COMMISSIONERS - Monday, June 10, 2024

The Mitchell County Commissioners conducted their weekly business meeting at the Courthouse Monday morning, June 10. All Commissioners, Tom Claussen, Mike Cooper and Jim Marshall, were present. Also attending the meeting was Heather Weston, County Clerk.
First up on the agenda was Terrance Silva, Mitchell County Director of Communications. Silva requested a ten-minute executive session for discuss non-elected personnel. When the business meeting resumed, Commissioner Jim Marshall made a motion to increase Silva's salary by $3.83 an hour making his new rate of pay at $29.55/hour. When Sliva became the Director several months ago, the Commissioners began him at a lower rate of pay while probationary period. Silva has proved to be a very capable director, hence the increase in pay. Marshall's motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Silva had a new dispatch employee, Halley Luna, with him to introduce to the Commissioners.
Missy McGinnis, Director of the Mitchell County Emergency Medical Service, requested a ten-minute executive session to discuss non-elected personnel. No decisions were made as a result of that closed session.
Nathan Gentry, representing the Kansas-Nebraska Radio Club, reported that their annual remote broadcast operation will take place on Saturday, June 22. The club will have their HAM radios set up and operating in Glasco. The program is open to the public and everyone is invited to stop by and learn about HAM radio operations.
Kyle Peterson, Director of the Mitchell County Historical Museum, was present to give his annual report to the Commissioners. Peterson told the Commissioners that almost everything has been moved out of the old museum located in the Old Nurse's Quarters. They have several very heavy showcases and bookcases yet to move and then the old building will be empty.
Having addressed all the items on the printed agenda, the meeting was adjourned.
