Roger Eugene Lambert, son of Arthur and Sylvia (Klima) Lambert, was born July 19, 1945, in Belleville, Kansas. Roger joined his heavenly father on Sunday, June 9, 2024. His last moments were spent in the loving arms of his wife and daughter at his home in Mahaska at the age of 78 years, 10 months, and 21 days.
Roger enlisted in the United States Army in 1962 and honorably served his country until his discharge in 1964. During his service he was deployed overseas to Korea. Following his discharge, he was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Roger was united in marriage to his loving wife, Darlene Koss, on June 1, 1964. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 1, 2024.
He was a devoted member of the Mahaska Presbyterian Church, and he served on the parish council and session. He also served as mayor of Mahaska, Mahaska city council member, and the Mahaska Fire Department.
Roger and Darlene were the owners and founders of Lambriar Kennels Inc. and Lambert Vet Supply.
Roger was an active member of the animal industry for 43 ½ years before retiring in 2012. He belonged and served actively on the boards of MPPDI, APPDI, Kansas Pet Advisory Board, and WWPSA (Western World Pet Supply Association). He was a long time member with PIJAC (Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council) in Washington, D.C.
His greatest love was his wife, who was his partner and best friend, and his children, Douglas, Michelle, and Bradley. From their children's unions came grandchildren; he was one proud grandpa and he was so in love with them. Then came great-grandchildren-and Wow! they were his pride and joy who he loved dearly. He said when he got married he wanted to be the youngest great-grandpa ever.
His hobby was his collection of his cars. It was hard to go to a car auction and turn down a car if Darlene was encouraging it. Roger loved to travel with his wife, and they did so extensively: Africa, South America, and Europe, among other destinations, and all 50 states. They especially loved Europe, but they absolutely went everywhere they got a chance to.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Bradley; his brother Robert; and his grandparents.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Darlene; son, Douglas (Madalina) Lambert of Mahaska, Kansas; daughter, Michelle (Loren) Pachta, Chester, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Angela Lambert, Alicia (Brandon) Fraley, Sarah (Tim) Talkington, Jaime (Jami) McDaniel, Lance (Jenna) Pachta, Cody (Megan) Pachta, Chase Lambert, Darien (Kyle) Westen, and Kylie Pachta; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Theresa (Louis) Strova, Lakeland, Colorado; many wonderful cousins, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many great relatives and friends.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Mahaska Presbyterian Church with Pastor Phil Goombi officiating. Burial will follow at National Bohemian Cemetery, rural Cuba.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 1:00 pm. to 8:00 pm with family greeting friends from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Mahaska Presbyterian Church or the Roger Lambert Memorial Fund in care of Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 566, Belleville, KS 66935.
Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home is assisting the Lambert family with these arrangements.
