Terence "Terry" Kay Vrbas, 72, of Mankato, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Republic County Hospital in Belleville, Kansas. He was the youngest child of nine, born to James and Genevieve (Heble) Vrbas in Atwood, Kansas, on September 10, 1951.
Terry grew up in Atwood and graduated from Atwood High School in 1969. He went on to attend NCK Vocational-Technical College earning a degree in Computer Science. He was a jack of all trades and has worked as a bricklayer, carpenter, electrician, plumber, and most recently, in the office at the Jewell County Hospital.
He married Donna Rahe in Atwood, Kansas, on June 16, 1978. This union brought two sons, Tyson and Travis. They moved from Atwood to Denver and then made their home in Mankato, Kansas, in 1980.
Terry was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mankato. He enjoyed sports, especially the Denver Broncos. He liked hunting, fishing, woodworking, grilling, and just sitting on the patio with his wife, Donna. He was described as a Mr. Fix-it, strong, loving, funny, ornery, caring and a professional "BS"er. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and son.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Genevieve Vrbas; brothers, Gene Vrbas, Bob Vrbas, Jimmy Vrbas, Jerry Vrbas and Mickey Vrbas; and a brother-in-law, Leon Lippold.
He will be missed by his wife, Donna of Mankato, Kansas; sons, Tyson Vrbas (Erica) of Manhattan, Kansas, and Travis Vrbas (Beth) of Phillipsburg, Kansas; grandchildren, Blake Vrbas, Tyler Vrbas, Sophia Riffel, Kaycee Vrbas, Kyla Vrbas and Lucas Vrbas; siblings, Tom (Janet) Vrbas, Carolyn (Gordon) Rachac and Cathy Lippold; siblings-in-law, Kathy Vrbas, Polly Vrbas, Duane (Jeri) Rahe, Dorothy (Mike) Powell, Delores (Dick) Rahe; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mankato with Pastor Dennis Beckmann officiating.
Visitation will be held at the Melby Mortuary on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
