Ellen J. Scofield of Belleville, Kansas, the daughter of Frank Levendofsky and Ella (Hurley) Levendofsky, was born December 11, 1928 in Concordia, Kansas, and passed away on July 23, 2024 in Belleville, Kansas, at the age of 95 years.
Ellen grew up in rural Republic County, attending the Beaucamp Country School and later Belleville High School. On August 7, 1946, she was united in marriage to Elwin Scofield and to this union was born seven children. Ellen was a farm wife and the couple were partners in the operation of the family farm for many years. She later worked at Belleville High School for several years in the cafeteria and later for the Golden Bell where she was a bookkeeper and cook.
Ellen was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elwin Scofield in 2012; granddaughter, Amber Burton; daughter, Charlotte Burton; grandsons, Bradley Boman and Darin and Darrel Chatfield; four brothers, Frances Levendofsky, John Levendofsky, George Levendofsky and Lawrence Levendofsky; and sister, Mary Michaels.
Ellen is survived by two sons, Gary (Lori) Scofield of Belleville, Kansas, and Jayme Scofield of Salina, Kansas; four daughters, Carolyn Conwell of Salina, Kansas, Sandra "Sue" (Gary) Boman of Belleville, Kansas, Jo Ann (Ken) Gurley of Silver Springs, Nevada, and LeAnn (Tim) Sankey of Salina, Kansas; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Levendofsky of Belleville, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Kansas, with Pastor Amos McCarthy officiating.
Interment will follow the services.
The casket has been closed. Friends may sign the register book from 1 PM until 8 PM on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas.
Memorials may be sent in care of the family to be decided at a later time.
