Betty Ann Dunlap was born on June 11, 1949 in Abilene, Kansas, to Ralph and Kleora Lyne Dunlap. She died on Monday, July 8, 2024 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas, with her son Charles Loader and wife Kelsey Krier Loader and her daughter Brandy Goddard and husband Jason Goddard by her side.
Betty grew up in Abilene and Winfield, Kansas, obtaining her GED and graduating from a cosmetology program later in life. She opened Boop's Nails & Beauty Salon in Clay Center, Kansas, which was in business for several years. During that time, one of her favorite things to do was visit OCCK and provide free manicures and pedicures to the residents. She also loved completing acrylic nail sets for her family.
In her younger years, her favorite activity was riding Harley Davidson motorcycles with family and friends. You could find her enjoying Coca-Cola and cherry mashes any time of day! She was well-known as Betty Boop to friends and Grandma Boop to her precious grandchildren. Her collection of Betty Boop memorabilia extended to everything from clothing to miniature figurines and anything in between!
Betty loved her family and was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She was deeply loved by her family and will be very missed by family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Kleora Dunlap; her son, James Dean Cranmer; her sister, Patricia Locke; her grandson, Jackson Dean Goddard; and her beloved dog Gizmo.
Betty is survived by her children, Ralph Cranmer of Topeka, Brandy Goddard and husband Jason of Beloit, Charles Loader and wife Kelsey (Krier) of Abilene; her sister, Deb Neal and husband Tom of Winfield; her grandchildren, Destinee Loader, Karsen Loader, Breckyn Loader, Paige Goddard, Kylie Goddard and Alison Goddard; nephews, Mike Neal and Ralph Locke; and her niece, Stephanie (Neal) Spanier.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be at 10 AM Saturday, August 3, at the Roberts Family Funeral Home followed by burial in Saltville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Betty Dunlap Funeral Expense Fund in care of the funeral home.
Roberts Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
