Neva Irene Lee was born on October 31, 1924, near Prairie View, Kansas, to Harry and Olive (Wilson) Roeder. She passed away on August 2, 2024, in Belleville, Kansas, at the age of 99 years, 9 months and 2 days.
Neva attended school in Prairie View, and later graduated from Almena High School. She was united in marriage to Theodore Arthur Lee on June 22, 1947, and to this union one son was born, Stephen.
Neva taught school in Norton and Almena before the family moved to Belleville in 1959. She then worked as an office manager at the Republic Co. Hospital for over 30 years before her retirement. In her free time, Neva enjoyed playing bridge with friends, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was active in the church and church groups, and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore Lee in 2007; brothers, Norman Roeder, Calvin Roeder, Melvin Roeder and Raymond Roeder; sisters, Martha Roeder and Iva Lee Hawks. She is survived by her son, Stephen Lee of Englewood, Colorado; nephews, Jerry Hawks of Norton and Mike Hawks of Almena; other family and friends.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 8, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Belleville, with Pastor Amos McCarthy officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Norton City Cemetery, Norton, Kansas.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 7, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the family greeting friends that evening at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home.
