MITCHELL COUNTY COMMISSIONERS - Monday, September 16, 2024

By Terry Bailey

The Mitchell County Commissioners conducted their regular weekly meeting at the Courthouse Monday morning, September 16, 2024. All Commissioners were present as well as the County Clerk, Heather Weston.
Only two items were on the agenda. The Commissioners acknowledged that some meetings take quite a while and some are brief.
Barb Wise was present to ask the Commission to declare September as Mental Health Recovery Month. She shared statistics showing that people in recovery face a lot of challenges. They can survive the dark times if they have support. She encouraged everyone to be mindful of those in the recovery stage of their life.
This led to a brief discussion about how important it is to help one another. We never know what kind of burden a person is carrying.
Cortney Murrow, Mitchell County Health Director, informed the Commissioners that the Health Fair is approaching. The Health Fair will be a weeklong affair. It will begin Monday, October 14, and run through Friday, October 18.
Having addressed all the items on the printed agenda, the meeting was adjourned.
