Evelyn Love, the daughter of Paul Dennis Thomas and Edna Grace (Tantlinger) Thomas, was born October 28, 1928 near Kackley, Kansas, and passed away on December 13, 2024 at Credo Assisted Living, Belleville, Kansas, at the age of 96 years.
Evelyn grew up and attended school in Courtland, Kansas, graduating from Courtland High School in 1948. In Courtland, Kansas, on October 9, 1949, she was united in marriage to Charles Robert Love, Jr. and to this union seven children were born.
Evelyn was a homemaker and also cleaned at the Central Christian Church, Belleville Public Library and the Masonic Lodge. She later was a dispatcher at the Republic County Sheriff's Office and also the Belleville Police Department. Evelyn worked for a time at the Belleville Health Care Center and for several years drove the local transportation bus in Republic County.
Evelyn was a member of the Central Christian Church where she was active in Bible Study, C.W.F. and Ruth's Circle. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a State officer. Evelyn was also a member of the Belleville Garden Club and the E.H.U.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Edna Thomas; her husband, Charles "Charlie" Love on February 22, 2008; daughter, Charlotte Love; grandsons, Jason Love and Micheal Love; great-great-grandson, Madden Boone Cape; brothers, Dennis Thomas, Duwayne "Pinky" Thomas and Beryl Thomas; and son-in-law, Charles Simmons.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Dallas Love of Derby, Kansas, Al (Joyce) Love of Waxahachie, Texas, Kathryn Simmons of Ft. Worth, Texas, Tim (Cherie) Love of Belleville, Kansas, Marie (Jeff) Wheaton of McPherson, Kansas, Amy Love of Ft. Worth, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, January 3, 2025 at the Central Christian Church, Belleville, Kansas, with PMA Al Urich officiating.
Eastern Star services will be conducted by the Eastern Star Clay Center Chapter #180.
Visitation and viewing will be from 1 PM until 7 PM on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas, with the family greeting friends from 5 PM until 7 PM on Thursday.
Cremation will follow the services with family inurnment at the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Kansas, at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Meadowlark Hospice and may be left at the funeral home.
