Evelyn Lucille Koukol Erie, daughter of Jerry Koukol and Lucile (Hadachek) Koukol, was born on the family farm west of Cuba, Kansas, in Republic County, Kansas, on August 25, 1930, and passed away January 6, 2025 at the Adventhealth Shawnee Mission, Merriam, Kansas, at the age of 94 years.
She attended Jefferson Center Grade School for eight years and graduated from Cuba Rural High School in 1948.
She began working for Republic Mutual Insurance Company in Belleville and when they moved the office to Kansas City. She moved with them and remained there until she retired. She retired from St. Paul Insurance Company after 26 1/2 years in 1994.
She was a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals and attended many of their games. She enjoyed jazz music and dancing, Kansas City barbecue, and Topsy's Popcorn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Olive Dick; and brother, Donald Koukol.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lorene Koukol; nieces, Sharon Dick Kraeger (Dave) and Nancy Koukol Evans (Jay); nephews, Gary Dick (Cathy), Ron Dick, Darwin Koukol, Mark Koukol (Venita), and Michael Koukol. She is also survived by one grandniece, eight grandnephews, four great-grandnieces and seven great-grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, Kansas, conducted by Deb Hadachek.
Interment will be in National Bohemian (Kopsa) Cemetery, rural Cuba, Kansas.
Friends may call on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 1 PM to 7 PM at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas.
The family will greet people on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to Cuba Booster Club.
