Sonja Charlene Bean, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on January 25, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on September 23, 1938, in Sheridan County, Kansas, Sonja was the youngest child of Mirium and Lillie Randolph. She grew up alongside her siblings, Ernest, Mervin, Lucille, Freda, Mildred, Rose, Mirium Jr., Wilma, Robert, Derreld and Ervin, whose presence in her life shaped the values she carried into adulthood.
After graduating from Hoxie High School, Sonja spent time working in restaurants and managing a couple bars with her husband Earl. They eventually settled in Cawker City, Kansas, where she provided daycare for several years before going to work at Sunflower Manufacturing. She spent many years working at the Cawker location and eventually the Beloit location. Even after stepping away from her role at Sunflower, her commitment to serving others continued as she returned to the workforce at Hilltop Lodge for several years.
Sonja was known for her infectious sense of humor and her love for laughter. She had a remarkable ability to engage in conversation, making everyone feel welcomed and valued. Her passion for life extended to her family, with whom she cherished spending quality time, creating lasting memories. Organizing Randolph Family Reunions was just one of the many ways she nurtured connections among her loved ones.
On October 26, 1957, Sonja married Earl Bean, a union that would later dissolve but still marked an important chapter in her life. Together they raised three children: Roxie, Ranae and Randy. Sonja's legacy continues through her grandchildren,
Sonja was a woman of many talents; she took great pleasure in making baked goods, particularly her famous cinnamon rolls, which will be sorely missed by all who had the delight of enjoying them.
Sonja is survived by her children, Roxie (LaVern) Boxberger, Ranae (Chris) Helmbrecht, Randy (Laura) Bean; grandchildren, Derek Boxberger, Quentin Boxberger, Brandon (Ashley) Behymer, Brett (Jenica) Behymer, Megan Helmbrecht, Abby (Cody) Wuthnow, Braydon Bean; and great-grandchildren, Jenna, Easton, Colton, Kensley, Cash, Whitley and Luca. She is also survived by a host of other relatives including nieces and nephews that she cherished deeply. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
Visitation with family present will be at Schoen Funeral Home and Monuments in Beloit on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM. A Funeral Services will be Friday, January 31, 2025, commencing at 10:00 AM, also at Schoen Funeral Home. Sonja will be laid to rest the same day with interment following at Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit at 11:00 AM.

Sonja Bean leaves behind a rich tapestry of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will resonate within the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warm spirit and nurturing presence will forever be remembered.
