Charlotte E. Young, 65

Charlotte Elizabeth (Gertison) Young was born on September 29, 1959 to Phyllis and Charles "Chuck" Gertison in Belleville, Kansas, and passed away on February 2, 2025 at Bryan LGH West Lincoln, Nebraska, with her daughter by her side at the age of 65 years, 4 months and 4 days.
Charlotte completed confirmation and was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, Nebraska. She attended Chester-Hubbell High School in Chester, Nebraska. She was active in pep club and she loved being a bulldog. She graduated with the class of 1978.
Charlotte was married to Michael Thieme in 1979 and to this union three children were born: James Milton, Logan Michael and Eva Marie. That marriage dissolved and she later married Thomas Young. She helped raise his three daughters, Calese Susan, Kathleen Lynn and Celia Marie.
Charlotte held many titles at various nursing homes and enjoyed her time there, but being a homemaker was her favorite job.
She attended church and bible study at Landmark Church in Belleville, Kansas. She also attended tea parties and women's retreats there as well.
Her hobbies included diamond art, camping, reading, traveling, thrift store and antique shopping. She also loved gardening, doting on her three cats and spending time with family and friends. Charlotte never met a stranger and she loved everyone.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Young; her parents, Charles (Chuck) Gertson and Phyllis (Edwards) Kopsa; maternal grandparents, George and Lola (Dettman) Edwards; paternal grandparents, Henry and Lillian (Johnson) Gertison; four aunts, Ladonna Edwards, Reba Edwards, Betty Edwards and Carrie Gertison; three uncles, Kenneth Edwards, Arlo Gertison and Clifford Gertison; one sister, Peggy (Gertison) Iwert; and son-in-law, Lewis Thayer.
Charlotte is survived by her children, James Thieme of Hebron, Nebraska, Calese (Jason) Young of Natoma, Kansas, Kathleen (Anthony) Kuhlmann of Stockton, Kansas, Celia Young of Plainville, Kansas, Logan (Erica) Thieme of Courtland, Kansas, and Eva (Brian) Schultze of Belleville, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; aunt and uncle, Estelle and Melvin Edwards of Narka, Kansas; many nieces and nephews and siblings; many cousins; other relatives and friends, and one bonus sister, Cher (Ken) Ritchie of Belleville, Kansas.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 3 PM Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, 1322 19th St., Belleville, Kansas, with Pastor Craig Roberts officiating.
Family inurnment will be held privately by the family at a later date.
A potluck lunch will be held in honor of Charlotte following the service at the 4-H Building, Belleville, Kansas.
Friends and family will gather at the funeral home at 2 PM prior to the service.
