Juliann Ayers, 93

Juliann Margaret Ayers, the daughter of Bernard Wagner and Frances (Thomas) Wagner, was born September 13, 1931 at Tipton, Kansas. She died March 29, 2025 at the age of 93.
Juliann's family lived on a farm outside of Tipton. Later, in her youth, they moved north of Cawker City, where Juliann attended grade school. She later moved in with a nice lady and attended St. John's Catholic School in Beloit her sophomore through junior year of high school. She returned to Cawker City to finish her senior year, graduating in 1950.
Juliann worked at the Sisters of St. Joseph Hospital as a nurse's aide for 7 ½ years, and also worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Wichita. She later went to Cosmetology School in Wichita and became a licensed cosmetologist, and managed Bobbett's Beauty Salon in Concordia.
On September 11, 1965, Juliann was united in marriage with Fred Ayers at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cawker City, and one son and two daughters were born to this union. They lived in Fairbury, Nebraska, until 1980, and moved back to Cawker City.
Juliann was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Ladies Guild, and assisted her husband with the Mitchell County Democratic Party, as well as the Commodity Distributions for Cawker City and Glen Elder. Juliann also assisted at St. Michael's Catholic School in the first and second grades in Fairbury. She enjoyed doing crafts, baking, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and family and friends. Juliann was also a diehard bingo and bunco player.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; and one sister, Marjorie Owen.
Juliann is survived by her son, Curtis Ayers of Beloit; two daughters, Sandra (Kelly) Hawk of Beloit and Jennifer Crenshaw of Wichita; five grandchildren, Cody Crenshaw, Deven Crenshaw, Sarah Johnstonbaugh and husband Jordan, Samantha Zimmerman and Taven McMillan; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Lohkamp and husband James of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Helena Kamphefner of Gladstone, Missouri, and Mary Frances McClain of Pleasant Valley, Missouri; brothers, Alfred Wagner of Wichita, Edgar Wagner of Cawker City, and Ralph Wagner and wife Sue of Gladston, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 AM Thursday, April 3, at the St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit followed by burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Cawker City.
A rosary service will take place before the service at 9:30 AM Thursday.
Memorials may be given to the St. John's Ladies Guild or Sts. Peter & Paul Ladies Guild.
